Headlining this release is the improved <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/javascript\/jsapi\/featuretable-amd.html\">Feature Table<\/a>, which now supports editing feature attributes within the table.<\/p>\n<p>We also made improvements to the <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/javascript\/jsapi\/directions-amd.html\">Directions<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/javascript\/jsapi\/measurement-amd.html\">Measurement<\/a> widgets, added a new CSS theme, and included vector tile basemaps to the list of <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/javascript\/jsapi\/esri.basemaps-amd.html#properties\">named basemaps<\/a> in the API. The rest of this post provides high level details about each of these new features.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h1>Feature Table<\/h1>\n<p>We overhauled the <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/javascript\/jsapi\/featuretable-amd.html\">Feature Table<\/a> widget, providing developers and users with a cleaner user experience and powerful new functionality. Perhaps the biggest improvement is adding editing support &#8211; feature attributes may now be edited directly inside the feature table. To enable editing in the table, all that is required is setting the <code>editable<\/code> constructor parameter to true. The two new Feature Table samples listed below demonstrate how to do this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/javascript\/jssamples\/featuretable_formatting.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px; background: none;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/03\/feature-table-domains.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now fields may be customized to display values in custom formats and configured to allow editing on a field by field basis. Developers can also add custom items in the Options menu to the top right of the table that execute app-specific code blocks when selected.<\/p>\n<p>Check out the two new samples showcasing these capabilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/javascript\/jssamples\/featuretable_formatting.html\">FeatureTable &#8211; Formatting<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/javascript\/jssamples\/featuretable_custommenu.html\">FeatureTable &#8211; Custom Menu Items<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Widget improvements<\/h1>\n<p>The user experience of the <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/javascript\/jssamples\/widget_directions_basic.html\"><strong>Directions widget<\/strong><\/a> has been revamped to allow users to alter routes by adding and dragging waypoints and route segments. When the user drags a waypoint or a route segment, tooltips appear revealing predicted travel time and distance alterations to the route prior to the user finalizing the placement of the moved waypoint or segment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/javascript\/jssamples\/widget_directions_basic.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px; background: none;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/03\/directions.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Route symbols have also been improved to provide directional maneuver arrows plus useful tooltip content.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px; background: none; margin-right: 1rem;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/03\/directions-a.png\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px; background: none;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/03\/directions-b.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/javascript\/jssamples\/widget_measurement.html\"><strong>Measurement widget<\/strong><\/a> now provides segment distances on each mouse-move event rather than mouse-click. It also provides more precise measurements when the map is zoomed to large scales.<\/p>\n<h1>A new CSS theme &#8211; Calcite<\/h1>\n<p>The API now comes with a new theme &#8211; Calcite.
