exp...","flexible_content":[{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<p>Our intent with the initial ArcGIS Earth 1.0 release was to demonstrate and validate that we could produce a lightweight, easy-to-use experience that would be usable by non-GIS stakeholders in large organizations. \u00a0So far, the feedback is that the experience is on the right track and now we have lots more work to do around additional OGC data types, new features for exploring data, and additional &#8216;GIS compatibility&#8217; features that would provide common capability regardless of what data type a user is working with. \u00a0While we can&#8217;t do everything at once, we do have a deep roadmap already developed and are actively working with customers to refine and update the sequence of features and experiences that we release.<\/p>\n<p>We are happy to announce that the download for\u00a0<a title=\"Download ArcGIS Earth\" href=\"http:\/\/j.mp\/ArcGISEarthDownload\" target=\"_blank\">ArcGIS Earth 1.1 is now available<\/a>. \u00a0In this release, we enhanced Earth to focus on a few key capabilities that customers asked us for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Timesliders for KML data sets<\/li>\n<li>WMS and WMTS OGC services<\/li>\n<li>TXT\/CSV file handling<\/li>\n<li>Usability and administration improvements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>KML Timesliders<\/h2>\n<p>ArcGIS Earth now recognizes time-enabled KML. \u00a0Simply add a time-enabled KML to the application and the timeslider should appear near the bottom center of the screen. \u00a0Users have the ability to change the time span of information displayed on the globe, play an animation of the data in the KML, and modify the playback settings.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_62065\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62065\" style=\"width: 415px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ArcGISEarth_OceanCurrentsAnimation_small3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-62065 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ArcGISEarth_OceanCurrentsAnimation_small3.gif\" alt=\"ArcGIS Earth 1.1 animation using NOAA Ocean Current KML\" width=\"415\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-62065\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ArcGIS Earth 1.1 animation using a NOAA Ocean Currents KML<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The timeslider capability will recognize and attempt to filter based upon the combined time span for all time-enabled KMLs that are currently turned on in the Table of Contents. \u00a0In the future, we will look at enabling the timeslider for other types of time-enabled GIS data, such as ESRI RESTful imagery services.<\/p>\n<h2>OGC\u00a0WMS and WMTS services<\/h2>\n<p>In the 1.1 release, users can now also add OGC WMS and WMTS services in both WGS84 and Web Mercator spatial reference systems. \u00a0Many ArcGIS for Server customers share out map data in WMS and WMTS to expose their data in standard, interoperable services. \u00a0WMTS is often used instead of WMS to pre-cache tiles that may display more quickly than WMS.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_62069\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62069\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ArcGISEarth_EsriFrForestWMS.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-62069 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ArcGISEarth_EsriFrForestWMS-300x168.png\" alt=\"A WMS displayed in ArcGIS Earth 1.1\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" simple lists of coordinate information can directly load coordinates by CSV or TXT file into Earth. \u00a0Earth has a simple interface for selecting the coordinate columns and can even load projected coordinates if there is a corresponding worldfile for the CSV.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_62070\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62070\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ArcGISEarth_CSV_Interface.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-62070 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ArcGISEarth_CSV_Interface-300x181.png\" alt=\"Earth CSV\/TXT registration interface\" width=\"300\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-62070\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Earth CSV\/TXT registration interface<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Users are able to change the stylization properties of the data by right-clicking on the layer in the TOC and users can also configure simple popups for points during import.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_62071\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62071\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ArcGISEarth_CSV_With_Popup_40pct.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-62071 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ArcGISEarth_CSV_With_Popup_40pct-300x168.png\" alt=\"CSV imported with Popups\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-62071\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">CSV imported with Popups<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Users who are signed into a Portal for ArcGIS Server instance with a configured locator may also perform batch address geocoding. \u00a0Batch address geocoding against the Esri World Geocoding Service is not yet supported in any configuration of Earth.<\/p>\n<p>You cannot yet export CSV points as GIS data from Earth, but that is planned for an upcoming release.<\/p>\n<h2>Usability and authentication improvements<\/h2>\n<p>Earth 1.1 contains many incremental usability and administration improvements.
