Like other storytelling apps, Cascade lets you combine your narrative with maps, images, video, and other web content.<\/p>\n<p>Where Story Map Cascade differs from other Esri Story Map apps is the full-page, immersive experience it provides for your readers as they scroll through your story. It is also the first Esri Story Map app to natively support 3D maps. Stay tuned for future updates, as we&#8217;ll be adding new features that further enrich Cascade&#8217;s storytelling capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>To get started building a Cascade story just head over to the <a title=\"Story Map Cascade\" href=\"http:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/en\/app-list\/cascade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Story Maps website<\/a>\u00a0and click <strong>Build a Cascade Story<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Anatomy of a Cascade story<\/h2>\n<p>A Cascade story is made up of sections, of which there are two main types: narrative and immersive. <strong>Narrative sections<\/strong>, not surprisingly, focus on your narrative and are composed of paragraphs of text supplemented with in-line media.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/c1dce9f0-33ca-11e6-821f-d637cf5681c1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-64648\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/c1dce9f0-33ca-11e6-821f-d637cf5681c1-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Immersive sections<\/strong> reverse this emphasis and showcase your media by filling the window with it while adding floating panels that present shorter snippets of narrative. Immersive sections are composed of a series of views. As readers scroll through your story, each view is revealed using a transition, such as fade or swipe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/1ffb50a8-33cb-11e6-99cb-9d547c88108c.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-64651\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/1ffb50a8-33cb-11e6-99cb-9d547c88108c-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are a few other section types. The <strong>cover<\/strong> introduces your story; it&#8217;s what readers first see when they open your story.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/029e7352-33c9-11e6-9258-4c02ea6e4236.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-64652\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/029e7352-33c9-11e6-9258-4c02ea6e4236-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Title sections<\/strong> can be used to divide your story into chapters. A title section is thin and shows some text and an image. You can add any number of title sections to your story where ever you need them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/fff25bf0-33c8-11e6-975f-b984f344dfaa.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-64654\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/fff25bf0-33c8-11e6-975f-b984f344dfaa-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, you can choose to end your story using an optional <strong>credits section<\/strong>.
