We are rolling out new beta sites for users to try out and see how we are moving forward, as well as new features to opendata.arcgis.com (also available now to administrators that set up beta sites), and the highly-anticipated arrival of support for file geodatabase downloads.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beta Sites\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You may have noticed that opendata.arcgis.com has seen some changes in the past few months &#8211; a slightly different user interface, greater search capabilities, an API Explorer, and more, some of which were outlined in our <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.esri.com\/esri\/arcgis\/2016\/04\/07\/whats-new-in-arcgis-open-data-april-2016\/\">April release blog post<\/a>.\u00a0The launch of custom beta sites sees the initial roll out of these new features to local sites. Beta sites also have an improved site editor, which is the result of thorough pattern analysis and a review of administrator&#8217;s current pain points when creating an Open Data site. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/geonet.esri.com\/community\/gis\/web-gis\/arcgis-open-data\/blog\/2016\/06\/23\/arcgis-open-data-new-beta-sites\">read more about beta sites over on GeoNet<\/a>\u00a0and give them a whirl by logging into the administrative app, clicking \u201cTry Beta Site,\u201d and moving through the editor.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_65504\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-65504\" style=\"width: 499px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2016-06-23_13-34-58.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-65504\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2016-06-23_13-34-58.png\" alt=\"site editor\" width=\"499\" height=\"898\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-65504\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">When building a new beta site, you&#8217;ll see this pre-filled site template in your site editor. You can modify it or remove it to start from scratch.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Story Map Integration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new feature this month for both opendata.arcgis.com and the aforementioned beta sites is integration with Story Maps\u00a0\u2014 citizens can now take their dataset of interest from an Open Data site and launch it directly into a Story Map builder. Here, they can go through the Story Map workflow of editing their web map, adding text and other multimedia components, and sharing it with the web. We&#8217;re working on ways for these resulting Story Maps to become Connected Content so that other citizens can access these insights and leverage the knowledge of their neighbors.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_65505\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-65505\" style=\"width: 1008px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Leaf_Collection_Areas___ArcGIS_Open_Data.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-65505\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Leaf_Collection_Areas___ArcGIS_Open_Data.png\" alt=\"Story map link\" width=\"1008\" height=\"407\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-65505\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Clicking &#8220;Create a Story Map&#8221; will launch users into the Story Map builder, where they can modify the map and all multimedia to create their data narratives.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><strong>File Geodatabase Downloads<\/strong><\/p>\n<div><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>We\u2019re thrilled to offer support for file geodatabase downloads. This feature is available on all sites &#8211; opendata.arcgis.com, custom beta sites, and the custom sites on the web today. File geodatabase downloads are offered for hosted feature services that have enabled the export data capability. We\u2019ve already seen some of these in the wild!
