If you don\u2019t know just where Fiji is, you\u2019re not alone. It\u2019s in the South Pacific, east of Australia and north of New Zealand, at the edge of the scroll-able world.<\/p>\n

In a standard map view, you can\u2019t see the whole country\u2014which is made up of more than 330 islands\u2014without doing a lot of panning. Part of the country is on the far right edge of the map, and part is on the far left. This is very inconvenient if you\u2019d like to see the whole country at once.<\/p>\n

\"Fiji<\/a><\/p>\n

ArcGIS Pro lets you set your map view to scroll continuously east and west. With continuous scroll, your work isn\u2019t limited by the edge of a projection. Here\u2019s how to set it up:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Start ArcGIS Pro<\/strong> and select the Map.atpx <\/strong>template.

  2. \u00a0On the Create a New Project <\/strong>dialog box, enter a name, such as Fiji<\/strong> and click OK<\/strong>.

    Your new project opens with a basemap, but it probably isn\u2019t zoomed to the extent of Fiji, so you\u2019ll need to find it.<\/li>\n

  3. On the Map <\/strong>tab, in the Inquiry <\/strong>group, click Locate <\/strong>to open the Locate <\/strong>pane.

  4. In the search bar, type Fiji<\/em>, and click the first location found by the Esri World Geocoder.

    \"Map<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    You can see the white space on the side of the map view where the projection ends. You can also see that it cuts right down the middle of one of Fiji\u2019s islands. Let\u2019s fix that.<\/li>\n

  5. In the Contents <\/strong>pane, right-click Map<\/strong>, and click Properties.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. On the Map Properties <\/strong>dialog box, click Coordinate System.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  7. At the bottom of the dialog box, click to select the Enable wrapping around the date line<\/strong> check-box and click OK.<\/strong>

    Now you can see all of Fiji and scroll your map continuously to the east or west.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    You can enable wrapping around the date line for your map if it is in a Web Mercator projection (the default for new maps) or a geographic coordinate system. It is also enabled for a few other projected coordinate systems, such as Miller Cylindrical and Plate Carr\u00e9e. If you need to change your coordinate system, you can find steps in the ArcGIS Pro Help topic, Specify a coordinate system.<\/a><\/p>\n
