Our 2016 Data Update has arrived and is ready for download. \u00a0Here is a quick list of things to know.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(1) Unlock The Data:<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"> \u00a0Esri Customer Service sends your organization an email with updated data licenses. \u00a0These will unlock the 2016 Data. \u00a0The 2016 Data is certified on Business Analyst 10.4.1&#8230;and all the way back to 10.3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>(2) Get The Setup:<\/strong> \u00a0You can download the content from <a title=\"My Esri\" href=\"https:\/\/my.esri.com\/#\/\" target=\"_blank\">My Esri<\/a>\u00a0\/ My Organizations \/ Downloads. \u00a0If you need it on a USB drive, you can order that too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(3) Install The Files:<\/strong> \u00a0The data is larger this year, pushing 60GB. \u00a0We&#8217;ve conveniently broken the files into 5 smart 7-Zip archives. \u00a0You download them and with 7-Zip installed, select Extract Here and the setup populates itself for you automatically. \u00a0You don&#8217;t have to worry about manually copying any files or folders. \u00a0Our <a title=\"Business Analyst Install Guide\" href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/business-analyst\/desktop\/installing-business-analyst-data.htm\" target=\"_blank\">install guide<\/a>\u00a0tells you lots more. \u00a0We recommend installing the most current version of 7-Zip (v.16.02).<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Extract.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-68673 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Extract.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"702\" height=\"252\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>(4) A New Map View: \u00a0<\/strong>We&#8217;ve added a great new Map Document as a convenient starting point. \u00a0It&#8217;s <strong>FAST AND FUN AND BEHIND THE FIREWALL<\/strong>. \u00a0Fast to zoom, pan, scroll, redraw and everything else. \u00a0It&#8217;s vector-based so you can change symbology, reorder layers or add your own.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/09\/FastMapMXD.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-68520 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/09\/FastMapMXD.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"105\" height=\"127\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/09\/FastMap.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-68690 noIMGBackground alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/09\/FastMap.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"637\" height=\"536\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Fast Map&#8221; dataset is installed by default and is an extra 5GB or so, you can view this in the Custom install settings and turn it off . \u00a0But it&#8217;s a joy to use and works great for performance intensive tasks such as large geocoding jobs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/09\/FastMapComponent.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-68519 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/09\/FastMapComponent.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"535\" height=\"410\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>(5) A More Convenient Search:<\/strong>\u00a0You can always start with a blank MXD if you&#8217;d like. \u00a0There is no need to have BDS layers in the map any longer &#8211; Business Analyst uses underlying &#8220;Data Collections&#8221; to populate demographic variables in the wizards. \u00a0So all the variables are searchable under one roof &#8211; for example I filter on &#8220;ACS&#8221; and return all American Community Survey U.S. Census data&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/09\/ACS.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-68523 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2016\/09\/ACS.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"506\" height=\"259\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>(6) Additional Datasets Included:<\/strong> \u00a0Speaking of <strong>American Community Survey<\/strong> &#8211; this 2010-2014 data is now included in the base dataset!
