With the release of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>AppStudio<\/span><\/span>\u00a0for ArcGIS version 4.<\/span><\/span>2<\/span><\/span>, we have\u00a0<\/span><\/span>improved our templates\u00a0<\/span><\/span>by adding<\/span><\/span>\u00a0exciting new features, enhancements and bug fixes to help you create cross-platform native apps easier and faster. Map Viewer\u202f<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Support for\u00a0<\/span><\/b>offline\u00a0<\/span><\/b>M<\/span><\/b>ap\u00a0<\/span><\/b>A<\/span><\/b>reas<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>–\u00a0<\/span>With\u00a0<\/span>Map Viewer<\/span>\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>4.2<\/span>\u00a0release<\/span>, we have extended your ability to take maps offline by supporting preplanned map areas, in addition to <\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>previously su<\/span>pported\u00a0<\/span>Mobile Map Packages (MMPKs).\u00a0<\/span>Map\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>reas<\/span> allow you to package data from specific areas of a web map to make it easier and faster to download maps for offline use. You can use ArGIS Online<\/a><\/span>\u00a0or Enterprise<\/a> to easily create offline map areas and then download the map areas in the Map Viewer app to view layers and features when you are disconnected from the internet.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This\u00a0<\/span>feature\u00a0<\/span>will only be available for\u00a0<\/span>webmaps<\/span>\u00a0which have<\/span>\u00a0offline\u00a0<\/span>m<\/span>ap\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>reas enabled.\u00a0<\/span>When map areas are enabled,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>download button\u00a0<\/span>becomes\u00a0<\/span>available while viewing the\u00a0<\/span>webmap<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Pressing<\/span>\u00a0this\u00a0<\/span>button <\/span>will<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>give you\u00a0<\/span>an\u00a0<\/span>option to download one or\u00a0<\/span>more\u00a0<\/span>Map Areas for\u00a0<\/span>offline use.\u00a0<\/span>Not only\u00a0<\/span>can you<\/span>\u00a0download and view an offline\u00a0<\/span>map area, y<\/span>ou can also perform a sync operation if there is an update available to your<\/span>\u00a0previously<\/span>\u00a0downloaded offline\u00a0<\/span>m<\/span>ap\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>rea.\u00a0<\/span>Please remember to<\/span>\u00a0have the \u201cShow Both\u201d option\u00a0<\/span>selected for the Maps to Show in Gallery<\/span>\u00a0property<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in your template app\u2019s Setting<\/span>s tool\u00a0<\/span>if you plan to use these downloaded offline\u00a0<\/span>m<\/span>ap\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>reas in\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>disconnected environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
