New for this release:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arcade is now supported in pop-ups<\/strong>, enabling you to define and use <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/create-maps\/configure-pop-ups.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_BE0D1CA2E46742F18E7D442FB2E0F47D\" target=\"_blank\">attribute expressions<\/a> to enhance and extend the pop-up display.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Click to view larger image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80929\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j1s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"247\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.arcgis.com\/arcade\/\" target=\"_blank\">Arcade<\/a> expressions allow you to dynamically create new values using feature attributes, and can be used anywhere you use regular attributes. For example, you can display a value in meters instead of feet, change text color based on conditions, or dynamically construct a link URL using attributes.<\/p>\n<p>Input parameters for<strong> Analysis<\/strong> <strong>tools<\/strong> are now saved with the result layer. Alternatively, you can use <strong>Types<\/strong> to symbolize each value uniquely, such as making residential buildings blue and commercial buildings orange.<\/p>\n<p>Other new features and enhancements include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New <strong>realistic 3D symbols<\/strong> have been added, including street furniture, transportation, and vegetation symbols.<\/li>\n<li>You can now add, load, and visualize dynamic<strong> image layers<\/strong> in both global and local scenes.<\/li>\n<li>Configurable apps and Web AppBuilder are now accessed directly from <strong>Share<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Improved<strong> lighting <\/strong>capabilities yield more vibrant colors.<\/li>\n<li>You can click features to reveal\u00a0<strong>pop-ups<\/strong> (configured using ArcGIS Pro).<\/li>\n<li>A new <strong>welcome screen<\/strong> allows you to access recent scenes with a single click.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information see <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/get-started\/view-scenes.htm\" target=\"_blank\">View scenes in the Scene Viewer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">*<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #007ac2\">The Living Atlas<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>ArcGIS includes a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/livingatlas.arcgis.com\/en\/#s=0\" target=\"_blank\">Living Atlas of the World<\/a><\/strong> with beautiful, useful and authoritative maps on thousands of topics. Living Atlas is built into to ArcGIS, providing an easy way to access basemaps, maps, layers, and more.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/livingatlas.arcgis.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Living Atlas app<\/a> has been updated with <strong>improved search<\/strong> capabilities and the ability to sort results by relevance, date, popularity, and name. The current filters are displayed as a logical expression.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80956\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"509\" height=\"52\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Search now includes the ability to use location, person, or type of item in the search string. Use &#8220;in&#8221; before a place name to add a geographic filter. Living Atlas also appears in the apps button on ArcGIS.com, and is being updated to make it easier for users to browse featured content for use within their organization.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>World Imagery basemap<\/strong> has been <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.esri.com\/esri\/arcgis\/tag\/whats-new-in-world-imagery\/\" target=\"_blank\">updated<\/a> with additional sets of DigitalGlobe imagery for several countries including the United States and Canada with detailed imagery for several hundred areas. This completes the initial set of updates for over 100 million sq. km. planned for the first year of the Esri partnership with DigitalGlobe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>World Imagery metadata<\/strong> has been updated to use an Arcade-styled pop-up that displays the source, acquisition date, accuracy, and resolution of the imagery. Add World Imagery as a layer, then click anywhere in the world at any zoom level to display the information.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j22.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-82136\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j22.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"553\" height=\"392\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=5ebad49d08374b3ea012949bf58f521c\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Firefly<\/strong><\/a> (beta) is a new World Imagery basemap view that starts out nearly black and white, but progressively becomes more colorized as you zoom in. It is similar to the dark gray canvas, but offers the texture and context of imagery. It is especially useful as a basemap for brightly styled layers.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Click to view larger image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j6.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-80939\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j6s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=da10cf4ba254469caf8016cd66369157\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Clarity<\/strong><\/a> (beta) is a new World Imagery basemap view that offers the clearest imagery available from the Living Atlas imagery archive.\u00a0The imagery in this view may be less current than the default imagery, but supports use cases (e.g. data collection) where the image clarity or accuracy is more important.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Click to view larger image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j7.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80944\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j7s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A new suite of maps and layers in <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/esri.maps.arcgis.com\/home\/group.html?id=4c790318395940c18a16e8acd721de25\" target=\"_blank\">Geographic Coordinate System (GCS) WGS84<\/a><\/strong> are now available.\u00a0 These maps and layers, initially released in beta over the last year, are now fully released and available to use in your web maps and apps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Demographic maps<\/strong> have been updated for the United States and several other countries. The demographic maps now feature the latest 2017 current year estimates and 2022 five-year forecasts for the United States. In addition, updates have been released for more than 30 other countries using the latest Michael Bauer Research (MBR) data.<\/p>\n<p>New time-enabled maps using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/group.html?id=f615932f60094044b4abca4597444b4c\" target=\"_blank\">GLDAS data<\/a>, which provides global, historical meteorological data from NASA\u2019s Land Data Assimilation system, are now available.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>NAIP image services<\/strong> have been updated with <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.esri.com\/esri\/arcgis\/2017\/05\/22\/naip-2016-image-layer-is-now-available\/\" target=\"_blank\">NAIP 2016 imagery for 24 states<\/a> in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Organizations can choose to use <strong>Esri vector basemaps<\/strong> as the default in their Map Viewer and Scene Viewer basemap galleries. Administrators can check Use <em>Esri vector basemaps in supported ArcGIS apps<\/em> in the Map tab under Edit Settings.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j9.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80952\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j9s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">*<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #007ac2\">Enhanced user experience<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Access to your content has been redesigned, with a new layout intended to improve workflows and performance.<\/p>\n<p>A new overall <strong>Content page<\/strong> now organizes all content, and includes tabs for My Content, My Favorites, My Groups, \u00a0and My Organization. You can view, search, sort, and filter the content found in each.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80649\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/june-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"94\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/reference\/search.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Search<\/strong><\/a> has been enhanced to be more focused, for example you can now search specific tabs of your content and group pages. Search results have an improved layout page and more precise filtering.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Item and group thumbnails<\/strong> have been enhanced to include support for auto-scaling, larger image sizes, drag-and-drop, and thumbnail placement adjustments using pan and zoom.<\/p>\n<p>Support for <strong>adding, calculating, and deleting fields<\/strong> on hosted feature layers has been added to the item page Data tab. This enhancement brings the attribute table capabilities of the item page into equivalency with Map Viewer attribute table functionality.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/share-maps\/groups.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Group pages<\/strong><\/a> have been redesigned with a new layout and organization, intended to improve workflows and performance. You can now search for and filter group members and content, and administrators can configure groups to allow organization members to join without invitation or approval.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80957\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"422\" height=\"161\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In addition, owners can now add <strong>delete protection<\/strong> to prevent accidental deletion of the group and can also promote group members to group managers to get help with management tasks.<\/p>\n<p>Relevant\u00a0<strong>ArcGIS Desktop<\/strong>\u00a0content is now included in all search results and group pages, and is no longer an optional checkbox.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/reference\/sign-in.htm#GUID-5EA2C22E-BC7C-4ABF-AD3C-E1C0B43D52A3\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>switching between your accounts<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0you now have the option to stay signed in to your current account. When you are ready to sign out, you can choose to sign out of all linked accounts or only the current account.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">*<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #007ac2\">Hosted web layers<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can publish your maps and data as hosted layers to\u00a0ArcGIS Online, leveraging cloud-based publishing without the need to manage these services on your own infrastructure. See <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/share-maps\/hosted-web-layers.htm\" target=\"_blank\">About hosted layers<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted tile layers have been enhanced to be more <strong>efficient, automatic, and economical<\/strong>. When publishing hosted tile layers from hosted feature layers you can now <strong>create tiles automatically<\/strong>. This means the tiles are created only when needed, such as when a user zooms to an area on the map.<\/p>\n<p>Once the tiles are created, they are cached in your hosted storage. Tiles will also <strong>automatically update<\/strong> when the features in the source feature layer are updated. To help you take advantage of these enhancements, the <strong>cost of publishing tiles has been reduced<\/strong> to 1 credit to generate 10,000 tiles.<\/p>\n<p>When creating hosted feature layers, you can enable a new option for collecting <strong>high accuracy metadata with Collector for ArcGIS<\/strong>. This option adds preconfigured fields and associated domains to the feature layer template schema that <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/collector\/\" target=\"_blank\">Collector for ArcGIS<\/a> uses to write metadata about the collected data.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ground Control<\/strong> is a new feature layer template available for collecting ground control points that can be used for georeferencing aerial drone imagery.<\/p>\n<p>Publishing <strong>hosted scene layers<\/strong> from hosted feature layers is no longer in beta, and now consumes credits. When publishing <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/share-maps\/publish-scenes.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_12C00F31E17D4E118DD8E5DF934B6E11\" target=\"_blank\">scene layers from hosted feature layers<\/a> you can choose between publishing to a global or local scene.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80963\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"204\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hosted feature layers can now be published from <strong>Microsoft Excel<\/strong> files and exported as <strong>KML<\/strong> and <strong>Excel<\/strong> files.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Publishing is faster<\/strong> when creating hosted feature layers from shapefiles, file geodatabases, ArcMap, and ArcGIS Pro.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">*<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #007ac2\">Configurable apps<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Configurable apps provide an easy and fast way to go from a web map to an application, with no coding required. The following are new for this release.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>configuration pane<\/strong> is more consistent across all apps, making it easier to find and change configuration options, and providing a more uniform configuration experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Impact Summary<\/strong> highlights an area, and shows a summary of data related to the location. It can be used to present the impact of an event or a proposal on the local population. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=2e8512893d4b463fb9ee81ec17d7af07\" target=\"_blank\">Impact Summary<\/a> now supports sharing subscriber content with anonymous users.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Click to view larger image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j121.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80961\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/06\/j12s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"299\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Information Lookup<\/strong> now supports the Shared Theme organizational setting. Shared Theme allows an administrator to set color and logo setting shared across applications.<\/p>\n<p>Use the new <strong>Minimal Gallery<\/strong> (beta) to create a basic card-based gallery of items in groups.<\/p>\n<p>For the latest information, see the configurable apps posts on the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.esri.com\/esri\/arcgis\/\" target=\"_blank\">ArcGIS Blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">*<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #007ac2\">Story Maps<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Story Maps<\/a>\u00a0let you combine authoritative maps with narrative text, images, and multimedia content, making it easy to harness the power of maps and geography to tell your story.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/en\/app-list\/cascade\/\" target=\"_blank\">Story Map Cascade<\/a><\/strong> supports uncropped tall images, linking to MP3 audio files, and better sizing of embedded media. It now adds a dark theme and font choices, and authors can improve how their stories look on mobile devices by specifying alternate images that display for complex or unsupported content. This ensures that any client that supports HSTS will always use HTTPS to communicate with the custom URL of the organization.<\/p>\n<p>Designated administrators are now <strong>notified when the organization sends an email<\/strong> that isn&#8217;t delivered. This allows the administrator to correct and resend the email to join the organization, reset the password, and so on.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>new tutorial<\/strong> demonstrates how to <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/reference\/configure-okta.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>configure Okta<\/strong><\/a> as your identity provider for enterprise logins.<\/p>\n<p>You can now share content between ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5.1 portals and ArcGIS Online organizations using <strong>distributed collaboration<\/strong> capabilities. <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/administer\/about-distributed-collaboration.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Distributed collaboration<\/a> allows organizations working in both online and on-premises systems to establish a trusted environment with defined rules for sharing maps, layers, and files across participating systems using item and data replication.
