Option 1: Turn on the Site Translation<\/strong> capability<\/h1>\nThe Site Translation<\/strong> capability uses Google Translate and enables site visitors to choose their language by clicking a button.<\/p>\nNote: The automatic site translation beta capability uses tools from Google<\/a> that are currently deprecated. While an official date has not yet been announced, Google has plans to fully disable support for these tools. Option 2: Manual translation<\/h1>\n<\/div>\nIf you want to provide content that is automatically translated, <\/span><\/span>similar to<\/span><\/span> these sites created by the Ontario GeoHub<\/a> and the City of Fredericton<\/a>, you can manually translate versions of your site.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n- If you have one site with no pages<\/strong>, create a page to mirror the parent site with localized content.<\/li>\n
- If you have a site that already uses pages<\/strong>, clone and translate the site, then add new, translated versions of the pages.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

Before you get started, consider finalizing the site you want to translate. This may include confirming mobile-responsiveness, getting approval from stakeholders, and ensuring that the copy is proofread and accurate. Cloning creates a copy of a site’s layout. You can use this option, but since you don’t have any existing pages we recommend adding a page to keep your site’s content consistent (i.e. the URL, header, and footer). For example, the open data site pictured above uses several category cards to provide high-level navigation to content related specifically to a topic or group. Because this card uses images, it’s useful for displaying localized content, minimizing the amount of words needed to showcase available content.<\/p>\n
Datasets are not automatically translated and will remain in the primary language. Because two items can point to the same data, you can register data as hosted feature layers to supply translated titles and descriptions, then add them to your site’s content library<\/a>. The data itself will remain in its original language unless it was originally formatted in multiple languages. 3. Link the translated page to the primary site<\/h2>\n
After you\u2019ve finished designing the layout of your page and connecting it to content, you can add a link to the page in the parent site\u2019s header. Next, follow steps to add a new page (see above section, Create a page<\/strong>).<\/p>\nBe sure to name each translated page something unique so that it isn’t confused with the original page. This is because a page added to a Hub Site Application<\/code> item is called a Hub Page<\/code> item. Option 1: Turn on the Site Translation<\/strong> capability<\/h1>\n
The Site Translation<\/strong> capability uses Google Translate and enables site visitors to choose their language by clicking a button.<\/p>\n
Note: The automatic site translation beta capability uses tools from Google<\/a> that are currently deprecated. While an official date has not yet been announced, Google has plans to fully disable support for these tools. While you can continue using this translate capability, anticipate changes to how this capability will perform if enabled for your sites.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to provide content that is automatically translated, <\/span><\/span>similar to<\/span><\/span> these sites created by the Ontario GeoHub<\/a> and the City of Fredericton<\/a>, you can manually translate versions of your site.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n- \n
- If you have one site with no pages<\/strong>, create a page to mirror the parent site with localized content.<\/li>\n
- If you have a site that already uses pages<\/strong>, clone and translate the site, then add new, translated versions of the pages.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

Before you get started, consider finalizing the site you want to translate. This may include confirming mobile-responsiveness, getting approval from stakeholders, and ensuring that the copy is proofread and accurate. Instead of creating a page, can I clone the site?<\/h3>\n
Cloning creates a copy of a site’s layout. You can use this option, but since you don’t have any existing pages we recommend adding a page to keep your site’s content consistent (i.e. the URL, header, and footer). Otherwise, you’ll have two different URLs for two different sites, versus a single URL for your site’s content. For example, the open data site pictured above uses several category cards to provide high-level navigation to content related specifically to a topic or group. Because this card uses images, it’s useful for displaying localized content, minimizing the amount of words needed to showcase available content.<\/p>\n
Datasets are not automatically translated and will remain in the primary language. Because two items can point to the same data, you can register data as hosted feature layers to supply translated titles and descriptions, then add them to your site’s content library<\/a>.
