{"id":783921,"date":"2020-04-23T15:52:35","date_gmt":"2020-04-23T22:52:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/?post_type=blog&#038;p=783921"},"modified":"2021-10-11T11:34:11","modified_gmt":"2021-10-11T18:34:11","slug":"400-release-of-arcgis-for-autocad-available","status":"publish","type":"blog","link":"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/autocad\/aec\/400-release-of-arcgis-for-autocad-available","title":{"rendered":"ArcGIS for AutoCAD- The 400 Release"},"author":3611,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_searchwp_excluded":""},"categories":[615021],"tags":[310972,35121,35131,30371,32171],"industry":[],"product":[37051],"class_list":["post-783921","blog","type-blog","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-aec","tag-aec","tag-autocad","tag-autodesk","tag-bim","tag-cad","product-autocad"],"acf":{"short_description":"ArcGIS for AutoCAD includes support for ArcGIS Enterprise and hosted feature  service editing.","flexible_content":[{"acf_fc_layout":"youtube","start_time":"0","end_time":"","youtube_video_url":"<iframe title=\"What Is ArcGIS for AutoCAD?\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZEfGuWOycdE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<p>ArcGIS for AutoCAD is available for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/en-us\/arcgis\/products\/arcgis-for-autocad\">download here<\/a>.<em>\u00a0 ArcGIS for AutoCAD<\/em> is the the popular free plug-in to AutoCAD from Esri that simplifies the <em>creation<\/em>, <em>sharing<\/em> and <em>synchronization<\/em> of GIS content between AutoCAD and ArcGIS.<\/p>\n<p>You can use it to enrich AutoCAD drawings with ArcGIS maps, imagery, and geographic features. \u00a0Like other Esri client software, <em>ArcGIS for AutoCAD<\/em> provides access to the flexible collaboration, multiuser-editing and the sharing of data within the ArcGIS platform.\u00a0 Many people re-purpose AutoCAD drawing files as structured ArcGIS content using <em>ArcGIS for AutoCAD<\/em> to create GIS data, with their familiar AutoCAD software. \u00a0\u00a0This includes directly editing ArcGIS web feature layers using AutoCAD to create edit and maintain ArcGIS data.\u00a0 With ArcGIS for AutoCAD, AutoCAD becomes a software client of the ArcGIS system.<\/p>\n<p>ArcGIS desktop, mobile clients (like the ArcGIS Collector field application<em>)<\/em>, ArcGIS web maps and apps, and AutoCAD can all be sharing and using the same ArcGIS web services.\u00a0 Field workers using ArcGIS Collector can be collecting information, and AutoCAD users can access that collected information through the same web feature layers.\u00a0 Likewise, changes made in AutoCAD can be realized out in the field as well as the rest of the ArcGIS applications that have access to those services.<\/p>\n<p>With ArcGIS for AutoCAD I can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>search, discover and access content from my organization&#8217;s enterprise or online portal with my Esri named user.\u00a0 I can also browse and discover free and premium content from the global GIS community and or groups to which I belong.<\/li>\n<li>define how my existing AutoCAD design content can be re-purposed as attributed ArcGIS feature classes while still following my existing CAD standards.<\/li>\n<li>edit, create and update ArcGIS features including ArcGIS Enterprise and\u00a0 ArcGIS Online hosted feature layers using plain AutoCAD.<\/li>\n<li>navigate locations in my drawing by street address or place name using the provided Esri world locator service or other ArcGIS Locator services.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with other ArcGIS users who may be working in ArcGIS desktop, web clients, mobile clients and other 3<sup>rd<\/sup> party applications on the same web services, or through the exchanging of enriched AutoCAD DWG files.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The newest features of ArcGIS for AutoCAD include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>add data experience- <\/strong>This release includes a new Add Data user interface that provides a gallery of thumbnail images of the maps and feature layers that you have access to in your enterprise or online portal.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Esri named user identity &#8211;<\/strong> is honored while browsing both ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise content. Esri named users provide the means to organize and control access to your content and premium content offered by others, including the groups to which you belong.<\/li>\n<li><strong>feature attachments<\/strong> \u2013 ArcGIS for AutoCAD supports formatted attributes on ArcGIS feature layers including range and coded value domains and now in this release\u00a0 <em>attachments<\/em> which may include images or URL links, etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>custom locator services<\/strong>&#8211; Location services provide the means to zoom to geographic locations in your drawing.\u00a0 Previous versions gave you access to Esri\u2019s Global Locator service that supported navigation by address and place name.\u00a0 New to this release is the ability to access custom locators with your own address information or other point of interest locators based on other types of geographic features, such as a <em>pipe network<\/em>, your facility locations etc\u2026<\/li>\n<li><em style=\"font-weight: bold\">hosted<\/em><b> feature layer editing &#8211;<\/b> in addition to editing ArcGIS Server feature services, or accessing feature layers through ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise portals, you can now also edit hosted feature layers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>400.1 Update Release<\/strong> &#8211; This incremental update includes\u00a0 some fixes to synchronization of certain datasets and a collection of new AutoLISP routines to aid in the automation of editing and synchronization workflows.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ArcGIS for AutoCAD is the best way to interoperate
