The best way to access them in ArcGIS Online is through the Esri owned\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/group.html?id=30de8da907d240a0bccd5ad3ff25ef4a\" target=\"_blank\">Vector Basemaps group<\/a>, which contains the latest set of web maps and tile layers. See\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.esri.com\/esri\/arcgis\/?p=90679\" target=\"_blank\">What\u2019s New in Esri Vector Basemaps (December 2017)<\/a>\u00a0for information related to this update.<\/p>\n<div>&#8212;<\/div>\n<p>We kicked off the month of August with a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.esri.com\/esri\/arcgis\/2017\/08\/03\/updated-vector-basemaps-and-new-mapstyler-august-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\">round of data updates<\/a> in the Esri Vector Basemaps. We close out the month with another update of content spanning the globe. The entire western hemisphere, North and South America, was updated with our latest HERE commercial data refresh. There are many layers of data that can be applied to the map to show how complex the food system in Maryland is, even at the local level. GIS Specialist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jhsph.edu\/research\/centers-and-institutes\/johns-hopkins-center-for-a-livable-future\/about\/staff\/Bios\/james.html\" target=\"_blank\">Jamie Harding<\/a>, who helped develop the app, believes it is a useful tool for people to learn more about Maryland&#8217;s food system, presenting the many elements \u2013 and their interconnections\u2013in a way that people can easily process and understand. Check Use <em>Esri vector basemaps in supported ArcGIS apps<\/em> in the Map tab under Edit Settings.<\/p>\n<p>Those accessing the Esri Vector Basemap <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/group.html?id=30de8da907d240a0bccd5ad3ff25ef4a&amp;start=1&amp;view=list&amp;sortOrder=asc&amp;sortField=title&amp;focus=maps#content\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>web maps<\/strong><\/a><\/em> will always be connected to the latest vector tile layers. If you created maps or apps during the beta period of the Esri Vector Basemaps (June 2015-December 2016) and haven\u2019t updated the underlying <strong>tile layers<\/strong>, you are not using the most current style or tile set. The current URL is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>https:\/\/basemaps.arcgis.com\/<strong>v1<\/strong>\/arcgis\/rest\/services\/World_Basemap\/VectorTileServer<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The URL for beta layers has \u201cb1\u2033 or \u201cb2\u2033 instead of the production \u201cv1\u2033. This URL can be found on the lower right of any of vector tile layer item page (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=e19e9330bf08490ca8353d76b5e2e658\" target=\"_blank\">World Navigation Map for example<\/a>). If you are using layers with the \u201cb1\u2033 or \u201cb2\u2033 URL (beta layers), it is recommended that you update to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/group.html?id=30de8da907d240a0bccd5ad3ff25ef4a&amp;start=1&amp;view=list&amp;sortOrder=asc&amp;sortField=title&amp;focus=layers#content\" target=\"_blank\">current production layers<\/a>.
