It has great default settings, and the \u201cmost frequently used\u201d tools and functionality at your fingertips. However, we know that every ArcGIS Pro user is different. As much as we try to predict exactly what you\u2019ll need, the defaults might not be quite right for you.<\/p>\n<p>There are a million ways to customize ArcGIS Pro (especially with <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Esri\/arcgis-pro-sdk\">the ArcGIS Pro SDK<\/a>), but if you\u2019re not a developer, here are a few of the quickest ways to get the application set up just the way you want it.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #339966\">Rearrange windows and panes<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Moving, floating, and adjusting the size of windows and panes is the easiest way to customize the UI.<\/p>\n<p>As you work with different maps, views, and panes, you\u2019ll open and close panes that you need for specific tasks. You can reposition or minimize them to make room for maps and other views. Grab the title bar of any view or pane to drag it to a target or let it float.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/draganddroppane2.gif\" alt=\"Drag and drop panes\" width=\"1227\" height=\"810\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A couple of the most common panes you\u2019ll have open are the Catalog and the Contents pane. If you accidentally close these, you can reopen them from the <strong>View<\/strong> tab on the ribbon. You can also show or hide panes with the <strong>Auto-Hide <\/strong>button.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/pin_it.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-90264 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/pin_it-300x35.png\" alt=\"Auto-hide a pane\" width=\"300\" height=\"35\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To save more space, you can stack panes on top of one another, and then switch between them by clicking the pane tab at the bottom of the stacked panes. To separate a pane from the stack, just grab the pane name at the bottom, drag it, and drop it where you want it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/bottomtabs.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-90258 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/bottomtabs-246x300.png\" alt=\"Switch tabs from the bottom\" width=\"246\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #339966\">Add tools to the Quick Access Toolbar<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This tip is handy if you only use a few tools very frequently. The Quick Access Toolbar is always shown at the top of ArcGIS Pro, and it has a few tools by default, but you can add your favorite tools from the ribbon.<\/p>\n<p>Right-click any tool on the ribbon and click <strong>Add to Quick Access Toolbar.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/addto_toolbar.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-90256 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/addto_toolbar.png\" alt=\"Add to quick access toolbar\" width=\"748\" height=\"204\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #339966\">Change the theme<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re working in a darker environment, or spending long hours staring at a screen, you might want to work in an application that\u2019s a little easier on your eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Switching to dark theme might alleviate some of your pain. Click <strong>Project <\/strong>&gt; <strong>Options<\/strong>, and click the <strong>General <\/strong>tab. Under <strong>Personalize<\/strong>, set the <strong>Theme<\/strong> to <strong>Dark<\/strong>, and restart ArcGIS Pro to see the change.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/lightanddarktheme.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-90262 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/lightanddarktheme-1024x274.png\" alt=\"Light and dark theme\" width=\"640\" height=\"171\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #339966\">Customize the tools on the ribbon\u00ad\u00ad\u00ad<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Without knowing a single line of code, you can add and remove tools from the ribbon. You can do this from the <strong>Options <\/strong>dialog box.<\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>Project &gt; Options<\/strong>, and click the <strong>Customize the Ribbon<\/strong> tab. On the left, you\u2019ll see a list of all available tools, and the right will show a list of the tabs and tools that are currently in the application.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2018\/01\/optionsdialog2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-90306 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2018\/01\/optionsdialog2-1024x478.png\" alt=\"Customize the ribbon\" width=\"640\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To add a command to the ribbon, click a tool in the list on the left, then select the tab on the right that you want to add it to. Click the <strong>Add <\/strong>button.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To remove a command from the ribbon, select it in the column on the right, and click <strong>Remove.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #339966\">Tip<\/span><\/strong>: Coming in version 2.1 of ArcGIS Pro, you&#8217;ll be able to add custom keyboard shortcuts from this page of the\u00a0<strong>Options\u00a0<\/strong>dialog box as well!<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #339966\">Create new tabs and groups on the ribbon<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>On the same tab of the <strong>Options <\/strong>dialog box where you can customize the tools, you can create new tabs and groups to add tools into.<\/p>\n<p>Under the column on the right, you can click <strong>New Tab<\/strong>, <strong>New Group<\/strong>, or <strong>Rename <\/strong>to edit and work with new tabs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/create_newgroup.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-90259 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/create_newgroup.png\" alt=\"Create new tabs and groups\" width=\"387\" height=\"462\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #339966\">Add your favorite tools to galleries<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Both the <strong>Analysis <\/strong>tab and the <strong>Edit <\/strong>tab have tool galleries for quick access to your favorite tools. You can customize both of these galleries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/galleries.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To customize the <strong>Analysis <\/strong>gallery, click the drop-down menu in the corner of the gallery, and click <strong>Customize Analysis Gallery.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a
