The setting is managed in your Profile.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-90150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/dec-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"245\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The specified page appears each time you sign in to your site. For example, set your start page to Gallery to go directly to your organization&#8217;s gallery page, or set your start page to Map to open the Map Viewer automatically after signing in. The app launcher appears in the upper right next to Search after signing in.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-90160\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/dec-6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"242\" height=\"127\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Members can personalize their view of the app launcher by dragging and dropping apps to change the order in which they are displayed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">*<\/span><br \/>\nItem Status<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Items can now be marked as <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/share-maps\/item-details.htm#ESRI_SECTION3_5B0AA740695F424792447B4D1B600B27\"><strong>authoritative or deprecated<\/strong><\/a> in the item settings. Administrators and content curators in your organization\u2014those with privileges to update organization content\u2014can now designate items as Authoritative. Users can deprecate items they own. Setting the status makes it easier for members of your organization to find reliable, authoritative items while discouraging the use of items that are not as reliable or becoming out-of-date. Items with these status indicators are identified by a corresponding badge on the item page.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Click to view larger image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/dec-7.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/dec-7s.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"162\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Status filter can be used when members <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/reference\/search.htm\" target=\"_blank\">search or browse for content<\/a>. Organization members can also restrict layer searches to authoritative layers when authoring maps using the Map Viewer. Open layers in Map Viewer using the new open link on the layer&#8217;s item page. Sign in with your enterprise or social network credentials and get help with your password and user name.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">*<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0079c1\">Insights for ArcGIS<br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Insights for ArcGIS is a web-based, data analytics workbench that allows you to perform iterative and exploratory data analysis. A <strong>new version is now available for ArcGIS Online<\/strong>, previously Insights was only available with ArcGIS Enterprise.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Click to view larger animation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Insights-ani1.gif\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-90569\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Insights-2.2-animate6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"322\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Using interactive linked cards, you can gain new discoveries about your spatial and nonspatial data. Linked cards allow you to click on a map or chart and see related data light up on another card. New for this release:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Analysis<\/strong> tools include a new <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/analyze\/find-centroids.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Find Centroids<\/strong><\/a>, allowing you to find the geometric center of multi-point, line, or area features.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-90365\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/centroids.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"263\" height=\"75\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/analyze\/aggregate-points.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Aggregate Points<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/analyze\/summarize-within.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Summarize Within<\/strong><\/a> have a new option to generate custom square or hexagon bins instead of summarizing your data within an input area layer.<\/p>\n<p>Light up your map with a new <strong>Firefly symbol set<\/strong>. A firefly point symbol is a dot with a colorized glow effect, useful for creating dramatic thematic maps. These symbols are especially effective when used with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=5ebad49d08374b3ea012949bf58f521c\" target=\"_blank\">World Imagery (Firefly) basemap<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-90318\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/dec-21.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"284\" \/><\/p>\n<p>See more Firefly symbols and basemaps in the <a href=\"https:\/\/livingatlas.arcgis.com\/en\/#s=0&amp;q=firefly\" target=\"_blank\">Living Atlas of the World<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can now use <strong>geometric operations in Arcade expressions<\/strong> defined for smart mapping styles, labeling, and pop-ups. Use advanced functions to normalize by area, test spatial relationships, compute distances between defined areas, and more.<\/p>\n<p>You can now <strong>update the URL of layers in your map<\/strong> from HTTP to HTTPS, or from staging versions of your ArcGIS service layers to production versions. This is available via the Settings tab for the map item. ArcGIS Online inspects each layer in the map. If any layers use HTTP, ArcGIS Online attempts to make a request to the same layer using HTTPS, and then updates the map and any associated layer items you own or administer. If a layer does not support HTTPS, you are notified and the layer URL is not updated. See <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/share-maps\/item-details.htm#ESRI_SECTION3_12B1DA0A6D7C4714931495274B57AEB3\" target=\"_blank\">Layer Settings<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arrows<\/strong> are now available to indicate direction when styling line features. See <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/create-maps\/styling-reference.htm#ESRI_SECTION2_C2A7CD38796547A29DAA48A0C9A25C95\" target=\"_blank\">Change symbols<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p>You can now <strong>add GeoJSON files<\/strong> to your map. GeoJSON is a widely used open standard format for encoding a variety of geographic data structures in JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format. See <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/create-maps\/add-layers.htm#FILE\" target=\"_blank\">Add layers from files<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0079c1\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">*<\/span><br \/>\nScene Viewer<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0079c1\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/get-started\/view-scenes.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Scene Viewer<\/a> is an app built into ArcGIS Online for creating and interacting with 3D scenes. New for this release:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>You can now <strong>measure distances in 3D between two points<\/strong> in Scene Viewer. Choose different measuring units and leverage interactive laser lines to calculate the direct and vertical distances in your scenes. See <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/get-started\/view-scenes.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_6327F17C2D0B4AD6A0CDB60BBFB61CD1\" target=\"_blank\">Measure your scene<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Click to view larger image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/dec-12.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-90247\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/dec-12s2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"313\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scene layer performance<\/strong> has significantly improved in this release. Buildings and integrated mesh scene layers now load faster using the correct priority order. Additionally, when zooming to scene layers, data is temporarily cached enabling the layers redraw much faster.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3D symbols from ArcGIS Pro<\/strong> can be used in your scene via style files published from Pro. In addition, organization Administrators can now configure custom web styles for Scene Viewer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-90279\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/dec-14.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"612\" height=\"146\" \/><strong>Other enhancements<\/strong> in Scene Viewer include the inclusion of 3D <a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.arcgis.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">ArcGIS Marketplace<\/a> subscription content, and <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/reference\/scene-viewer-requirements.htm#SV_MOBILE_REQS\" target=\"_blank\">3D mobile support<\/a> (still in experimental phase).<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0079c1\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">*<\/span><br \/>\nData collection &amp; management<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can now use CSV and Microsoft Excel files stored in <strong>Microsoft One Drive and Dropbox <\/strong>to publish hosted feature layers. If you update the the data in the file on the cloud drive, you can overwrite the data in the hosted feature layer using the updated cloud data.<strong><\/strong><strong> Google Drive<\/strong>, including <strong>Google Sheets<\/strong>, will be supported soon after this initial release. For more information, see <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/share-maps\/add-items.htm#ADDITEM_CLOUD\" target=\"_blank\">Add and publish files from a cloud drive<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Administrators and owners can now <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/share-maps\/manage-hosted-feature-layers.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_E2F5EF6240F246EBA5D238968B63BF97\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>append data to layers<\/strong><\/a> in existing hosted feature layers without needing to overwrite the entire hosted feature layer.<\/p>\n<p>You can now <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/share-maps\/manage-hosted-feature-layers.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_D6E1538242B24908B1472154696905D3\" target=\"_blank\">define an area of interest for hosted feature layer views<\/a> to <strong>limit access to features within a particular area<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New editing options<\/strong> are available for hosted feature layers and hosted feature layer views, providing more fine-grained control over what operations editors can perform.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-90274\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/dec-13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"319\" height=\"170\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After enabling editing, choose the editing capability allowed on the feature layer. See <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/share-maps\/manage-hosted-feature-layers.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_030A9819DFF7498E9DFCDE6030E5FFBA\" target=\"_blank\">Manage editor settings<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0079c1\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff\"> *<\/span><br \/>\nLiving Atlas<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>ArcGIS includes <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/livingatlas.arcgis.com\/en\/#s=0\" target=\"_blank\">Living Atlas of the World<\/a><\/strong>, a global collection of authoritative, curated content from Esri and the GIS community. Living Atlas is an integrated part of the ArcGIS platform, providing an easy way to access basemaps, maps, layers, and more covering thousands of topics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Esri vector basemaps<\/strong> have been updated to include additional Esri Community Maps content and style refinements. New vector basemaps are also available. Shown below is Nova &#8211; a recently introduced vector tile layer that provides a detailed basemap for the world featuring a dark background with glowing blue symbology.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Click to view larger image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/nova-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-90393\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/nova-1s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>See the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.esri.com\/esri\/arcgis\/tag\/vector-basemap\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vector Basemaps blog posts<\/a> for more information on how to take advantage of these new basemaps. For more information on Nova, view the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=75f4dfdff19e445395653121a95a85db\" target=\"_blank\">item details<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A new version of the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcgis.com\/home\/item.html?id=cdc49bd63ea54dd2977f3f2853e07fff\" target=\"_blank\"><strong> SSURGO Downloader<\/strong><\/a> has been released, providing quick access to ready-to-use map packages filled with useful soil data with over 150 attributes derived from the SSURGO dataset.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/esri.maps.arcgis.com\/apps\/View\/index.html?appid=cdc49bd63ea54dd2977f3f2853e07fff\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-90462\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/ssurgo-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To use this application, navigate to your study area and click the map. A pop-up window will open. Click download, and the map package will be copied to your computer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>World Imagery basemap<\/strong> has been updated with additional sets of DigitalGlobe imagery for several countries, including sub-meter resolution Basemap +Vivid imagery for Australia and the United States. In addition, sub-meter resolution Basemap +Metro imagery has been published for a few hundred additional cities around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Updates have been made to the <strong>demographic maps<\/strong> for Germany and several other countries. The demographic maps now feature the latest demographic data for Germany from Nexiga. In addition, updates have been released for several other countries using the latest Michael Bauer Research demographic data.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Detailed local boundaries<\/strong>, based on authoritative data from national government sources, have been published for a few countries. It makes a smart community even smarter, giving context and purpose to data and organizing people, processes, and technology to meet the needs of citizens and governments.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Click to view website\" href=\"http:\/\/hub.arcgis.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-90541\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2017\/11\/hub-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"196\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>ArcGIS Hub has recently been updated with the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Site and Page improvements<\/strong> include new cards that enable you to quickly and easily configure and customize your sites.<strong> Site Themes<\/strong> have an improved editor, and now include 7 configurable theme options. <strong>Initiatives<\/strong> include better tools for managing and monitoring team members, and improvements to the <strong>Community Dashboard<\/strong>. Citizen <strong>Perspectives<\/strong> enable community members to sign-in to your Hub to analyze data and contribute local perspectives. Finally, Hub now supports 31 languages, and includes accessibility and mobile device improvements.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, see <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.esri.com\/esri\/arcgis\/2017\/12\/05\/arcgis-hub-updates-for-december-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\">ArcGIS Hub updates for December 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ffffff\">*<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0079c1\">Administration<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Custom roles include the <a href=\"http:\/\/doc.arcgis.com\/en\/arcgis-online\/reference\/roles.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_4FF9051EFB814C249AB26B0ACFF7C79F\">privilege<\/a> to <strong>link to enterprise groups<\/strong>. To take advantage of the new privilege in existing custom roles, edit the role, add in the new privilege, and save the role.<\/p>\n<p>Members with <strong>Level 1 accounts can now join external groups<\/strong> if assigned to a custom role granting this privilege.<\/p>\n<p>Members who have the privilege to update member account information can now also <strong>reset passwords<\/strong> for other members. Dispatchers now see the date an assignment last changed state, showing how recently assignments have progressed.
