Unfortunately, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-online\/health\/racially-equitable-covid-19-response-using-gis\/\"><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-1-0\">racial inequities<\/span><\/a><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-2-0\"> in COVID-19 cases, deaths, and economic impacts continue. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/health\/coronavirus\/amfar-foundation-for-aids-research-coronavirus-study-blacks-african-americans-20200507.html\"><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-3-0\">Black<\/span><\/a><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-4-0\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/need-extra-precautions\/racial-ethnic-minorities.html\"><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-5-0\">Latinx<\/span><\/a><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-6-0\">, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azdhs.gov\/preparedness\/epidemiology-disease-control\/infectious-disease-epidemiology\/covid-19\/dashboards\/index.php\"><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-7-0\">Native American<\/span><\/a><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-8-0\"> communities are <\/span><span class=\"adverb\"><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-9-0\">disproportionately<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-10-0\"> harmed by this crisis. <\/span><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-11-0\">As a result, recovery efforts must address the health and economic crisis with a racial equity lens<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"60vgl-12-0\">. Focusing on racial equity during COVID-19 recovery means directing proportional resources toward where the needs are greatest in the community.\u00a0 This helps to stop perpetuating existing inequalities.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<h2><strong>GIS Can Support a Racially Equitable Recovery<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"bbrto\" data-offset-key=\"74e8n-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"74e8n-0-0\">\n<p><span data-offset-key=\"74e8n-2-0\">GIS can help organizations make <\/span><span class=\"complexword\"><span data-offset-key=\"74e8n-3-0\">equitable<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"74e8n-4-0\"> policy and planning decisions. For example, GIS can help understand who will benefit most from any policy or plan. So, it is important to support small business recovery in a <\/span><span class=\"adverb\"><span data-offset-key=\"dqn67-9-0\">racially<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"complexword\"><span data-offset-key=\"dqn67-11-0\">equitable<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"dqn67-12-0\"> way. <\/span><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"dqn67-13-0\">To do so, you must first identify where women- and\/or minority-owned businesses are in your community<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"dqn67-14-0\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"bbrto\" data-offset-key=\"195mi-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"195mi-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"195mi-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"bbrto\" data-offset-key=\"2htht-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"2htht-0-0\"><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"2htht-0-0\">The <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-solutions\/local-government\/coronavirus-small-business-solution-recovery-released\/\"><span data-offset-key=\"2htht-1-0\">Small Business Impact Survey<\/span><\/a><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"2htht-2-0\"> collects information on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"2htht-3-0\">. By s<\/span><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"2htht-4-0\">urveying, businesses in your region can report how they have <\/span><\/span><span class=\"passivevoice\"><span data-offset-key=\"2htht-5-0\">been affected by<\/span><\/span><span class=\"hardreadability\"><span data-offset-key=\"2htht-6-0\"> the pandemic<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"2htht-7-0\">. Moreover, the survey asks businesses whether they are women- and\/or minority-owned. When reopening, it is important to do so with a racial equity lens. For a racially equitable COVID-19 recovery, instead of reopening <\/span><em><span class=\"adverb\">equally<\/span><\/em><span data-offset-key=\"1sjd6-2-0\">, governments can do so <\/span><em><span class=\"adverb\">equitably<\/span><\/em><span data-offset-key=\"1sjd6-4-0\">.<\/span><span data-offset-key=\"1sjd6-4-1\"> By doing so, organizations consider policy impact to Black and Latinx community members.
