I&#8217;m Sarah, a product engineer working on feature services at Esri. There are many updates to feature services in the 10.6 release, which came out this week. The points below provide a general overview of the recent additions and updates to feature services, and will serve as a guideline for future posts. I&#8217;ll release a series of blogs expanding on these items to give you a better understanding of the improved functionality in the new release.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Feature Services published to an ArcGIS Enterprise federated server where the data is stored in a registered enterprise geodatabase:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><\/strong>Utility Network Layers &#8211; A new type of layer that is created when <a href=\"http:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/help\/data\/utility-network\/what-is-a-utility-network-.htm\">Utility Networks<\/a>\u00a0are published as feature services.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Annotation Layers &#8211; A new type of layer that is created when <a href=\"http:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/help\/data\/annotation\/annotation.htm\">annotation layers<\/a> are included in maps published as feature services from ArcGIS Pro.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Service Apply Edits includes <code>sessionId<\/code>, <code>usePreviousEditMoment<\/code> and <code>returnServiceEdits<\/code> parameters.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Layer Apply Edits includes <code>sessionId<\/code> and <code>usePreviousEditMoment<\/code> parameters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Feature services can be published from enterprise geodatabase data that has <a href=\"http:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/help\/data\/geodatabases\/overview\/an-overview-of-attribute-rules.htm\">attribute rules<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Feature services can be published from enterprise geodatabase data that has been configured to use <a href=\"http:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/help\/data\/geodatabases\/overview\/publish-branch-versioned-data.htm\">branch versioning<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Domains now include a <code>description<\/code> property.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">If defined, the published maps vertical coordinate system (VCS) and height model properties are included in the feature service resource as well as the layer resource.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">The source datasets spatial reference, vertical coordinate system (VCS) and height model properties are included in the layer resource.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Objects that include the spatial reference on the service and layer resources contain additional properties that describe the resolution and tolerance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Additional layer properties from the enterprise geodatabase including each fields <code>defaultValue<\/code>, the layer and each fields <code>modelName<\/code>, <code>isDataArchived<\/code>, <code>isCoGoEnabled<\/code> and <code>parentLayerId<\/code> properties when applicable.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">*Note:\u00a0The features listed above are available for non-hosted services published from ArcGIS Pro 2.1 or later but not necessarily for services published from ArcMap or other processes. Services published from ArcGIS Pro 2.1 have the following layer and service property:\u00a0<code>\"cimVersion\": \"2.1.0\"<\/code>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2018\/01\/UN1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2018\/01\/UN1-300x266.png\" alt=\"Sample Utility Network\" width=\"300\" height=\"266\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Hosted Feature Services in ArcGIS Enterprise:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hosted feature layer <a href=\"http:\/\/enterprise.arcgis.com\/en\/portal\/latest\/use\/create-hosted-views.htm\">views<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The <code>generateRenderer<\/code> operation introduces dynamic layer rendering on spatiotemporal layers.<\/li>\n<li>Support for the <code>quantizationParameters<\/code> parameter in the layer query operation and service query operation. NOTE: This is disabled by default but can be turned on using the service layers admin API to set {&#8220;supportsCoordinatesQuantization&#8221;:true}<\/li>\n<li>Support for the <code>returnCentroid<\/code> parameter in the layer query operation.<\/li>\n<li>Support for the <code>returnExceededLimitFeatures<\/code> parameter in the layer query
