we call the &#8220;first wave&#8221; of BA-based tools and capabilities within ArcGIS Pro.<\/p>\n<p>Much of the work for this release was behind-the-scenes, with the goal of establishing a solid and sustainable foundation on which to build Business Analyst.\u00a0 This work included the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A complete rewrite of our desktop GeoEnrichment and PDF reporting engines to take advantage of ArcGIS Pro\u2019s high-performance and modern architecture.<\/li>\n<li>The development of a new data browser control to streamline the search and selection of analysis variables in various BA-based tools and workflows.<\/li>\n<li>Major architectural work to enable Business Analyst to flexibly work with both <em>online<\/em> and <em>locally-installed<\/em> sources of data and supporting services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2018\/01\/fig2_BAPro.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-97210 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2018\/01\/fig2_BAPro.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"348\" height=\"432\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: Codebase<\/h1>\n<p>Now that the Business Analyst extension is in the ArcGIS Pro codebase, you can enable all Business Analyst tools and capabilities with licensing alone&#8212;separate setup files and installation are no longer required.\u00a0 In fact, you don\u2019t even have to download and install the <em>local<\/em> data from your MyEsri site if you connect to your ArcGIS Online organization or your organization\u2019s Business Analyst Server\/ArcGIS Enterprise deployment.<\/p>\n<p>An additional benefit to having our code included in every ArcGIS Pro build will be the steady stream of new Business Analyst features and enhancements that will come with every ArcGIS Pro release (currently around three a year).<\/p>\n<h1><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-97340 noIMGBackground\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/app\/uploads\/2018\/01\/linebreak1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"10\" height=\"10\" \/>Summary of Business Analyst Capabilities alt=\"\" width=\"10\" height=\"10\" \/>How to Get Started<\/h1>\n<p>Getting Business Analyst for ArcGIS Pro is easy.\u00a0 If you are a current Business Analyst Desktop customer, you are entitled to the new Business Analyst extension for ArcGIS Pro and access to all its supported tools and capabilities.\u00a0 Please see the <a href=\"#Licensing\">Licensing FAQ<\/a> section below.<\/p>\n<p>The one exception to this is the new Business Analyst <em>Enrich Layer<\/em> tool.\u00a0 <strong>All ArcGIS Pro users will have access to this tool and will be able to use it when connected to their ArcGIS Online organization.<\/strong>\u00a0 (With the <em>licensed<\/em> version of this tool, you will unlock the ability to also access your locally-installed data or your data hosted on your organization\u2019s BA Server\/ArcGIS Enterprise deployment without the need to consume ArcGIS Online Service Credits.)<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re very excited about this major milestone for ArcGIS Pro and organization administrator<\/a>.\u00a0 Depending on your organization, this person may be your GIS administrator or someone in your IT department.<\/p>\n<p>First, <a href=\"http:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/get-started\/get-started.htm\">get started with ArcGIS Pro<\/a> 2.1.\u00a0 By default, your license authorizations for both ArcGIS Pro and the Business
