A linear heatmap shows the most frequently traveled routes and hot spots of activity. The following steps are adapted from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esri.com\/arcgis-blog\/products\/arcgis-pro\/mapping\/gps-activity-map\/\">great blog post<\/a> by John Nelson, a cartographer at ESRI.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\">Create a map<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This visualization uses stacked lines with varying colors and opacity to create the effect shown above. Since Tracker and Field Maps store the data as points, we first need to build track lines. In this blog we&#8217;ll be using the <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.arcgis.com\/en\/portal\/latest\/use\/geoanalytics-reconstruct-tracks.htm\">Reconstruct Tracks<\/a> tool powered by <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.arcgis.com\/en\/server\/latest\/get-started\/windows\/what-is-arcgis-geoanalytics-server-.htm\">GeoAnalytics Server<\/a>. If you do not have access to GeoAnalytics Server, you can use the <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/tool-reference\/data-management\/points-to-line.htm\">Points to Line<\/a> tool in ArcGIS Pro or a <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Esri\/tracker-scripts\/blob\/master\/notebooks\/examples\/Create%20Track%20Lines%20From%20Points.ipynb\">custom script<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">First, let&#8217;s create a new map and add a track view tracks layer. It allows these lines to be unique per user and also to be split based on time and distance thresholds. Since it uses distributed computation, it&#8217;s pretty quick for large datasets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Once the tool is open, we&#8217;ll need to fill in some of the parameters:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li><strong>Input Layer<\/strong> \u2013 Provide the name of the tracks layer containing your data<\/li>\n<li><strong>Output Name<\/strong> \u2013 Provide the name of the new layer that will be created<\/li>\n<li><strong>Track Fields<\/strong> \u2013 Provide the fields that uniquely identify the tracks. This should be <strong>Created User<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Time Split <\/strong>\u2013 Provide a value that will cause track lines to be split into separate lines if two consecutive points are more than this time interval apart.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Distance Split<\/strong> &#8211; Provide a value that will cause track lines to be split into separate lines if two consecutive points are more than this distance apart.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data Store<\/strong> \u2013 Choose which datastore you would like the resulting layer to be hosted in. You may run into pagination issues if you choose \u00ad\u00adSpatiotemporal data store.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Output Coordinate System\u00ad<\/strong> \u2013<span class=\"TextRun SCXW143650905 BCX2\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143650905 BCX2\">You may want to set the output coordinate system. This is located under the <\/span><\/span><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143650905 BCX2\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143650905 BCX2\">Environment<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW143650905 BCX2\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW143650905 BCX2\"> tab. Since our end goal is to publish a vector tile layer, we need to export all of the lines to a local file geodatabase.
