The road to a better future asks us to reflect where our nations, our communities and ourselves lie in the vast web of life and, critically, to bring previously <a href=\"https:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/stories\/2aa409a8988e401088cd0658148a53e9\">marginalized groups<\/a> to the table (or map!) when decisions are made.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Native Americans fight to protect their cultural and environmental heritage<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/gctrust.maps.arcgis.com\/apps\/Cascade\/index.html?appid=55584ca0e7f94a9b9473cc28dd6272cf\" width=\"100%\" height=\"600px\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<p>The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide guidance on what comes next \u2013 a blueprint for everyone to improve upon. Since 2015 all United Nations Member States have adopted this framework to address 17 key issues of people and the planet. Tracking progress on these goals is essential \u2013 collecting data to understand the difference between where we are and where need to be. Esri has strongly supported the goals by providing support to Member States and national statistical agencies in the form of software, training, and solutions;\u00a0 in particular by helping the United Nations stand up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sdg.org\/\">sdg.org<\/a> \u2013 an <a href=\"http:\/\/hub.arcgis.com\/\">ArcGIS Hub<\/a> open data portal to aggregate SDG data from all countries. On a national scale, several nations have set up their own open data portals as well \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/irelandsdg.geohive.ie\/\">Ireland<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mapstat-psa.opendata.arcgis.com\/\">Philippines<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agenda2030.mx\/#\/home\">Mexico<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sdg-pcbs.opendata.arcgis.com\/\">Palestine<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sdgsuae-fcsa.opendata.arcgis.com\/\">United Arab Emirates<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/senegals-ansdsdg.opendata.arcgis.com\/\">Senegal<\/a>, and more to come. Analyzing and visualizing data yields insights to inform decisions and policies. Maps, apps, dashboards and more are used to communicate raw data into information ready for public consumption. Moreover, data will give you facts, but <a href=\"https:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/stories\/b22a6a09bb2344ff845d9efd3e4152f7\">a story<\/a> will give you feelings. And however tightly we hold onto facts, it is <a href=\"https:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/stories\/42b1a6fe6a524b578becd12c0bee4b4c\">the feelings<\/a> that stay with us far longer and stir us to action. When we synthesize the two, <a href=\"https:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/stories\/372583fb23cc47efa3cfb1b11fd60911\">powerful<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/storymaps.arcgis.com\/stories\/652993f26b064461a31e5befdb3d47f3\">narratives<\/a> emerge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">To support our users and build the next generation of sustainability professionals, Esri has created a series of educational paths focused on each SDG.
