MDM (Mobile Device Management)\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0is an industry term for the administration of mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablet computers and laptops. MDM is usually implemented with the use of a third-party product that has management features for particular vendors of mobile devices<\/p>\n

There are several MDM Environments available to implement. <\/strong>Not all MDM solutions are alike. They have similar concepts and capabilities, but often use different terms that are specific to their own solution.<\/p>\n

You can find the steps involved in configuring different aspects of MDM and how the ArcGIS Business Analyst mobile application<\/strong><\/a> can be configured for App Config using MDM. We have taken AirWatch<\/strong>, one of the most popular MDM environments as an example below.<\/p>\n

Add a new user<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Sign into\u00a0AirWatch Console<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0as an Administrator<\/li>\n
  2. Navigate to the\u00a0Accounts<\/strong>\u00a0tab<\/li>\n
  3. Select\u00a0Users<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Select\u00a0List View<\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. Select\u00a0Add<\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. Select\u00a0Add User<\/strong>

  7. In the General <\/strong>tab, complete the required basic user information, select Basic Access<\/strong> for User Role.<\/li>\n

  9. Select Save<\/strong> to save only the new user. Or,<\/li>\n
  10. select Save and Add Device<\/strong> to save the new user and proceed to the Add Device<\/strong> page.

        Create an Assignment Group<\/strong><\/p>\n

        4. Select\u00a0Add Smart Group<\/strong>

        8. Select\u00a0Add<\/strong>\u00a0to add that device or user to the group.<\/li>\n
        9. Select\u00a0Save<\/strong>\u00a0to save changes to the new smart group
