ArcGIS Workforce<\/a> is designed for dispatchers to create and assign work for mobile workers to complete<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in the field<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> Assignments are created in the Workforce web app, but <\/span><\/span>mobile workers might notice work that needs to be done while they are in the field. By bringing ArcGIS Collector <\/a><\/span><\/span>\u00a0to your workflow, mobile workers will be able to create assign<\/span><\/span>ments in the field that will then appear in Workforce.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"

To get started, identify a Workforce project that requires mobile workers to have the ability to create assignments from the field.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>We\u2019ll create a view of the assignments layer for the mobile workers, make a map<\/span><\/span>, give mobile workers access, and then create assignments using Collector.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Create a view of the assignments layer<\/h2>\n

Creating a hosted feature layer view from the assignments layer limits the fields and types of data mobile workers see. This ensures they only edit <\/span><\/span>the Workforce data you want them to. Navigate to the item page of the assignments layer and click\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Create\u00a0<\/span><\/span>View Layer<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Set the view definition<\/h3>\n

On the view layer’s item page, navigate to the <\/span><\/span>Visualization<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>tab. Click\u00a0<\/span><\/span>More Options <\/span><\/span><\/strong>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0then click\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Set View\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Definition<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Define Features<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Define Fields<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>options appear<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> These options allow you to customize the data mobile workers will see in the field.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Note<\/span><\/span><\/em>:<\/em> Mobile workers might not need all the fields. You can choose to exclude <\/span><\/span>Description<\/span><\/span>, Priority,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>WorkOrderID<\/span><\/span>, and Due Date.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Configure the pop-up<\/h3>\n

In the <\/span><\/span>Visualization<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>tab, click\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Configure Pop-up <\/strong><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> The pop-up defines the editing experience in Collector. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Update the\u00a0<\/span>Pop-up Title<\/span><\/b> to show information meaningful to workers creating assignments. <\/span>Include only the following\u00a0<\/span>fields and<\/span> display them in this order so that required fields are first:<\/span> Assignment Type, Location, Description, Priority, Due Date, and Work Order Id.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Uncheck both\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Display<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Edit<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Configure Attributes<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>for each of the other fields to exclude them.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Update the pop-up by clicking\u00a0<\/span><\/span>OK<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0at the bottom of the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>panel and<\/span><\/span>\u00a0save your changes by clicking\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Save Layer<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Enable editing and sync<\/h3>\n

In the\u00a0<\/span>Settings\u00a0<\/span><\/b>tab, enable editing and configure editing permissions in the\u00a0<\/span>Feature Layer (hosted, view) Settings\u00a0<\/span><\/b>section.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
