Utilize your understanding of enterprise GIS within the commercial sector and your multi-channel software business development experience to help European commercial organizations leverage geographic technology to achieve their business objectives. We are looking for a top-performing commercial professional or private business development executive to join our European business development team. Our ideal candidate will excel at inspiring and motivating others and can successfully own, cultivate, and grow the GIS ecosystem within Europe.


  • Drive opportunities. Manage and lead the European commercial team to develop a business development and sales strategy that employs direct and channel approaches to significantly expand the use of Esri’s solutions in the commercial sector in Europe. Provide clear direction for all of Esri’s software and services within the commercial sector. Stay up to date with Esri offerings for the commercial/private community in the European market.
  • Be a strategic leader. Act as the key representative for Esri in the European commercial market. Lead a team of sales professionals, Esri distributors, strategic partners, and integrators to support the development and execution of sales strategies for specific commercial opportunities. Direct sales activities and staff through effective coaching, supporting, and strategically participating in all stages of the sales process.
  • Partner with distributors. Work with Esri’s distributors to demonstrate the value of our technology and solutions to customers and prospects through business case development, references, and ROI. Support distributors to increase the execution of sales activities to achieve internal business objectives in the commercial/private sector. Co-develop proposals to respond to RFPs, RFIs, and tenders.


  • 5+ years of enterprise business development experience providing technical solutions to commercial/private clients in Europe, or 5+ years working in a top-tier commercial/private organization in Europe, specifically in the retail, insurance, financial services, and manufacturing-related industries
  • 2+ years of experience working in the areas of BI, marketing, market planning, supply chain, or other key business areas
  • Knowledge of and experience using Esri products
  • Proven ability to lead a team and develop competencies in individual contributors
  • Demonstrated ability to sell enterprise software solutions directly and through a channel in a team environment
  • Experience managing the acquisition cycle including prospecting, proposing, closing, and further developing an account
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology and translate it into solutions that address customer needs
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time throughout Europe with occasional travel to the US
  • Bachelor’s or master’s in GIS, business administration, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Fluent in German, French, or Dutch (verbal and written)
