Overview


Join the Calcite team to create, inspire, and influence user-centered design. Calcite is Esri’s design system and is used to craft engaging and consistent user experiences in Esri’s products and user community. Your mission will be to help develop and document foundational design and global components, while collaborating closely with other designers and developers to bring greater consistency, functionality, and flexibility.


You can use your expertise in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to push the envelope of what is possible in a browser with the Esri user community, allowing them to quickly create interactive maps and apps, perform complex analysis, and make better decisions. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced team that designs, builds, tests, and supports the Calcite Design System.

Responsibilities


  • Design, prototype, analyze, test, document, release, and support the Calcite Design System to enhance overall product quality
  • Implement UI/UX workflows and solutions while keeping designs flexible to accommodate more audiences
  • Work with customers and other stakeholders to define customer requirements; translate them into potential product improvements and new software designs
  • Ensure components meet accessibility, internationalization, and localization requirements
  • Write documentation ranging from sample code to template apps to tutorials
  • Support and interact with customers; evaluate feedback and plan for future releases
  • Assist in assessing product quality and release readiness
  • Research and help drive state-of-the-art UX practices

 

Requirements


  • 2+ years experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with TypeScript, Web Components, and/or Stencil
  • Comfortable designing modern web experiences with frameworks, such as Angular, Ember, React, Svelte, Vue
  • Experience with web development and accessibility
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, web design, engineering, computer science, math, or related fields

Recommended Qualifications


  • Experience with Python for scripting
  • Expertise in online mapping, GIS, and/or data visualization
  • Master's degree

Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

 

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is $72,800.00 - $124,800.00.
