Use your defense and public safety industry experience and your passion for software development to drive the next generation of core capabilities in the ArcGIS platform. This is a unique opportunity to use your understanding of the customer space to help ensure capabilities are built in a holistic manner in the ArcGIS Runtime SDKs and across ArcGIS products. You will use a design-centric approach to define new features and capabilities and shepherd the development process together with the product teams.

Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who has experience working with ArcGIS in the defense and public safety space, knowledge of agile software concepts, and excellent communication skills.


  • Work with defense and public safety stakeholders and subject matter experts within Esri to understand customer needs and define software features using a design-centric approach
  • Build the business case and clearly articulate customer use cases
  • Coordinate and drive design and development efforts across products to ensure a consistent and complete implementation
  • Create prototypes to test and validate software and provide feedback throughout the development cycle
  • Communicate progress regularly with defense and public safety stakeholders within Esri
  • Work with technical writers to create help documentation across products
  • Share new capabilities to customers via blog posts, learn lessons, and technical workshops


  • 2+ years of experience 
  • Experience in the defense and/or public safety domain and ArcGIS platform (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online)
  • Experience with one or more of the following platforms: Microsoft Windows, Linux, macOS, mobile devices
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to analyze complex problems
  • Bachelor’s or master's in GIS, computer science, engineering, physical or social sciences, or related fields, depending on position level

Recommended Qualifications

  • Experience with ArcGIS Runtime
  • Experience with the software development process
  • Development experience in Python, JavaScript
  • Understanding Agile and design-centric software methodologies
