Overview


Come join our team to create, inspire, and influence user-centered designs at Esri and beyond. Your mission will be to design and develop for Esri's design system. This is a great opportunity to collaborate closely with other designers and developers to enable and bring consistency across Esri’s ecosystem of products and services. You will be implementing and updating a consistent and cohesive component library for multiple frameworks and communicating changes to all stakeholders.

Esri’s design system is a collaborative design and development resources for creating consistent, on-brand experiences. Our team is small with a focus on individual responsibility and rapid development. As part of the team, you will be involved in creating and maintaining the design system that designers and engineers use to design, implement, and develop at Esri. 

Responsibilities


  • Ability to bring differing opinions and personalities together to move projects forward
  • Own, maintain, and champion the documentation and evangelization of the design system towards product team
  • Craft prototypes, and high-fidelity user interface designs using conventional design tools as well as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Gather requirements and synthesize them into tasks that you can take action on
  • Knowledge and ability to build cross-platform web components (React, Angular, Vue, React, etc.)
  • Develop aesthetically pleasing, usable, and accessible interfaces
  • Collaborate with other designers and developers to elevate and iterate on our current design solutions
  • Validate development and design work leveraging basic usability testing approaches and other user-facing research that elevate and evolve our team’s research capabilities
  •  Stay up to date on the latest web component best practices, patterns, and technologies

Requirements


  • 3-5 years of experience designing and developing for enterprise software, or similar experience
  • Strong front-end development skills and compelling aesthetic design sense
  • Working knowledge of accessibility with a desire to learn more
  • High emotional intelligence; able to bring differing opinions and personalities together
  • Proven track record of evangelizing the need and value of design
  • Proven proclivity toward self-ownership and driving results beyond your expected duties for the good of the product and team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Naturally curious and passionate about learning new things
  • Driven by personal growth and commitment to the craft
  • Experience in Scrum and agile develoment environments
  • Adaptable; able to leverage multidisciplinary practices and shift focus easily in a place that values nimble responses to new user and business expectations
  • Ability to leave your ego at the door, making way for data-driven empathy and a collaborative work ethic
  • An online portfolio or GitHub page that demonstrates your designer/developer abilities and how you think
  • Bachelor’s in human factors, graphic design, web design, computer science, or related fields

  • Experience building large scale design systems
