Developer Evangelist II - Maps SDK for JavaScript

At the Esri R&D Center Zurich, we are looking for an outgoing developer that thrives on empowering other developers to use our ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript to its full potential. This is a dream job for a developer looking to do more than coding. Mapping applications across the globe are powered by the SDK ranging from Esri’s own offerings to partner products and fully customized solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop demo web apps to showcase the power of our SDK in 3D mapping
• Coding will be approximately 20%-60% of your week
• Advocate for the adoption of 3D web mapping with our API internally and externally
• Gather valuable developer feedback and collaborate with the team for continuous product improvements
• Promote our SDK to a wider audience online, in customer meetings and at conferences
• Contribute to shaping the roadmap based on developer feedback, industry trends, and market demands
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders, to align with needs and expectations from many industries and various user groups

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in cartography, geospatial and/or computer science or a related field
• 2+ years of experience with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Passion for innovative cartography and data visualizations
• Excellent communication skills to effectively promote the API and gather feedback
• Enthusiasm to learn and contribute to creating compelling showcases and demos
• Willingness to participate in industry conferences and events to showcase the API
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and engage with stakeholders
• Existing work authorization for Switzerland

Recommended Qualifications

• Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) concepts and applications
• Experience with 3D mapping libraries and frameworks (such as ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, Three.js, CesiumJS, Mapbox GL JS, OpenLayers and others)
• Knowledge of market trends and customer needs in the mapping industry
• Interest in technical writing and creating developer-focused documentation
