Drone Services Product Manager

Overview

Drones have changed the landscape for how companies get up-to-date imagery and information for their projects, be it for monitoring the construction of a building, measuring volume changes in a mine, or predicting the optimum time to harvest crops. As the drone services product manager, you will be instrumental in defining, coordinating, and promoting ArcGIS SaaS products that customers use to efficiently get their work done with drones. You will work closely and communicate clearly with other product managers as well as many other departments within Esri.

In this role, with your strong experience and background using drones in different industries, you will need to fully understand the needs of users in multiple industries and then translate them into capabilities already provided or clarify these requirements for further developments. This should extend to working with different modalities from color imagery, thermal, radar, and lidar as well as scales from inspection imagery to city scale coverages.

Responsibilities

• Be a part of managing the strategic planning and tactical activities for the use of drone imagery
• Be a subject matter expert at all aspects related to the application of drone imagery in different industries
• Specify market requirements for current and future drone processing products by conducting research supported by ongoing interaction with customers and non-customers
• Work closely with development/engineering professionals to make sure market requirements are met
• Work closely with Business Development and Marketing to define product positioning and successfully launch new capabilities and products
• Evaluate partner and sales channel opportunities
• Continue to evaluate and evolve business models to help drive adoption and usage
• Support Esri tradeshows such as the Esri Developer Summit and Esri User Conference

Requirements

• 2+ years of practical experience in the geospatial field, focused on use of drone imagery
• Demonstratable experience writing well-crafted user stories and/or use cases
• Experience working with UX/UI professionals on user-centered designs and usability
• Excellent written communication, storytelling, and persuasion skills
• The ability to understand technology and grasp technical concepts quickly
• Ability to travel on occasion to customer sites and conferences
• Basic experience working with Python and JavaScript
• Bachelor's or master’s in computer science, business, engineering, or other analytical or technical field

Recommended Qualifications

• Experience flying and processing drone imagery in more than one industry
• Experience with geospatial technology, especially ArcGIS Online
• Demonstratable projects implementing drone workflows in a commercial setting
• Experience in the Pragmatic Framework
