Overview

Were you excited about learning and using ArcGIS Pro? If so, the Geoprocessing development team might be a great fit for you. We work on the suite of 2,000+ geoprocessing tools in ArcGIS Pro, build and enhance the framework that enables consistency between and automation of those tools, and create and improve new user interfaces and user experiences (UI/UX) for geoprocessing capabilities used by a large user base. Our team is looking for a communicative, creative, and charismatic person to work with us on diverse tasks involving design, prototyping, testing, documentation, and more. Join us, and help build software used to answer countless spatial questions and solve the world’s most pressing and complex problems using the power of spatial analysis.

Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with teammates to build spatial analysis software that is user-friendly, has good performance, and produces correct results (or meaningful errors)
  • Design controls, pages, and other user interfaces related to geoprocessing tools, parameters, environments, options, history, scheduling, and more
  • Coordinate user requirements from multiple sources including Esri Support and Esri Community to the development team and help make decisions about how to address these requirements
  • Maintain, design, and write test cases for geoprocessing tools and related functionality, to ensure quality and performance
  • Execute both manual and automated test cases and analyze test results to determine pass/fail status, reporting results in a timely and consistent manner
  • Write clear and concise help documentation topics that allows users to understand complex software capabilities and troubleshoot potential problems
  • Develop compelling examples, blogs, and other resources that illustrate new capabilities built by the team and present this work to various stakeholders and user groups

Requirements


  • High level of familiarity with the spatial analysis capabilities of ArcGIS, expressed through a portfolio, website, or other description of such projects
  • Confident verbal communicator; comfortable giving in-person and online presentations to groups of colleagues or the user community
  • Ability to think critically about alternatives and select the best one
  • Creativity and ability to learn about user interface design principles guiding ArcGIS Pro
  • Ability to manage priorities and tasks as needed in a fast-paced agile software development environment
  • Self-motivated and inquisitive, willing to ask questions
  • Interested and capable of gaining a deep level of understanding of a complex technology
  • Bachelor's or master's in GIS or a related field, depending on position level

Recommended Qualifications


  • Experience writing Python code
  • Project management knowledge or experience
  • Knowledge of Agile development practices
  • Experience using graphics design software
  • Experience using video capture and editing software
