GIS Data Engineer

Overview

Are you up to the challenege of being in a highly visible role, where you`ll function as both a technical expert and a business consultant supporting customers throughout the Defense/Intelligence Community (IC)?

Esri’s Professional Services Federal Delivery Team plays a crucial role in the innovation and implementation of the ArcGIS platform. Utilize your strong GIS technical know-how to support both new customers and seasoned users within the IC to manage advanced enterprise geodatabases and data production workflows. This includes installation, configuration, versioning, archiving, replication, tuning and database diagnostics at an in-depth level.

Responsibilities

• Be a thought leader: Advise customers regarding innovative solutions using Esri technology and content to help them make better decisions. Recommend relevant strategies, architectures, and solutions and work with customers to prepare implementation and migration strategies.
• Understand our customers and know their business: Understand how Esri`s platform technology can help our Defense customers be more successful. Be familiar with key business processes across the DoD and Intel community.
• Engage with our customers: Work closely with customers to identify, design and certify key GIS workflows for the ArcGIS platform. Provide configuration guidance and best practices to customers and understand how Esri`s technology enables the customer`s stated vision. Collaborate with customer IT organizations to align their technical objectives and business goals with Esri`s technology platform.
• Develop and grow business: Provide business development support by defining project and proposal strategies that further technology and implementation patterns with new and existing customers. Collaborate with Esri’s practice managers and marketing and sales teams to develop new business, and be part of actively shaping the future of the Federal Delivery Department through your work on cutting-edge projects and technology.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in geodatabase architecture and administration
• Proficiency with geodatabase design, data loading techniques, physical storage, backup/recovery strategies and data retention solutions, data security and enterprise geodatabase maintenance and tuning
• Working knowledge of at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Javascript, C#)
• Experience with at least one RDBMS, including SQL query writing (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
• Experience with systems hosted in virtualized, cloud and/or container environments
• Applicants selected will be subjected to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. This could include a Top Secret Clearance (TS), a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information Clearance (TS/SCI), a TS/SCI with Counterintelligence Scope (CI) and/or a Full Scope/Lifestyle
• Bachelor’s in Geography, Computer Science, GIS or a STEM related field

Recommended Qualifications

• Software development or Technical background
• Experience with Esri ArcGIS software including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Runtime and their associated APIs or interfaces
• Master`s Degree in Geography, Computer Science, GIS, Mathematics or a STEM related field
