GIS System Engineer- Federal

Overview

You will work closely with DC Federal clients at the intersection of enterprise IT and GIS technology to implement ArcGIS Enterprise and our broad array of other software offerings. These customers represent our most challenging and technically accomplished partners, and your expertise in solving complex technical challenges will be essential to their success.

Responsibilities

Design and Implement Effective ArcGIS Enterprise Systems

• Utitlize your capabilities in DevOps, DataOps and IT architecture design to streamline infrastructure processes and optimize scheduling and performance
• Influence domain-driven design and architecture principles of data lineage, data security, data privacy, data uptime and reliability
• Plan the migration of content from one ArcGIS Enterprise deployment to another, encompassing different architectures, deployment strategies and software components
• Identify system data, software components required to meet user needs for ArcGIS implementations
• Configure ArcGIS Enterprise systems to meet the customer`s service level agreement including high availability and security requirements
• Install, configure and test system management tools, infrastructure and server plugins
• Provide ongoing support of the on-premise hybrid and cloud infrastructure
• Research, test or verify proper functioning of software patches and fixes

Maintain and Support System Deployments

• Evaluate, maintain and upgrade operation systems and software to optimize functional capabilites
• Monitor and correct issues and create recovery processes and hardware for failures and performance bottlenecks, identify possible solutions and work with developers to implement those fixes
• Perform ongoing maintenance operations, including installing or upgrading
• Provide technical support and guidance for the development or troubleshooting of systems
• Ensure technical documentation exists for all systems and is kept up to date
• Understand business priorities and future goals and translate to optimized infrastructure tools and improved service delivery
• Provide reports and updates on usage, maintenance and debugging in an agile environment

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience with a focus in system architecture in a distributed enterprise environment, ideally ArcGIS 
• Broad system administration experience on Windows and/or Linux 
• Programming experience in C++, C# JavaScript, Python and/or PowerShell 
• Strong knowledge and understanding of CI/CD processes and deployment tools such as Kubernetes 
• Experience with at least one RDBMS including SQL query writing (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) 
• Experience with Cloud system operations (SysOps) 
• Experience with DevOps concepts 
• Applicants selected will be subjected to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. This could include a Top Secret Clearance (TS), a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information Clearance (TS/SCI), a TS/SCI with Counterintelligence Scope (CI) and/or a Full Scope/Lifestyle 
• Bachelor's in geography, somputer science (CS), computer engineering (CSEE), or related STEM field, depending on position level (master's preferred)

Recommended Qualifications

• Direct work-related experience in and familiarity with the organizations and operations of the Department of Defense (DoD) and/or US Intelligence Community (IC)
• Experience with Esri software including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Runtime and their associated APIs or interfaces
• AWS, Azure, CompTIA, Esri IT certification(s)
• Security + certification
