At Esri, our business development managers collaborate with distributors to co-sell and promote the adoption of the ArcGIS. We invite you to utilize your enterprise sales and multi-channel software business development experience to help leverage geographic technology in the Education sector globally.
You’ll work closely with Esri’s distributor network to support the growth of the global education community and to help students, educators, and the administrators of educational institutions use GIS to improve understanding and make better decisions. When you are not traveling, you will be based in the Rotterdam office.


  • Drive opportunities. Collaborate with staff, distributors, and the Esri global offices sales and marketing teams to create opportunity development plans, as well as prospect, develop, and grow relationships and community engagement in the Education industry. Form a collaborative virtual team of staff, distributors, strategic partners, and integrators to support the development and execution of sales and adoption strategies in Education.
  • Think strategically. Develop a business development, sales and adoption strategies that employs direct and channel approaches to significantly expand the use of our solutions in education. Educate and motivate customers to adopt modern GIS practices, migrate to current releases of ArcGIS, and deploy GIS throughout the institution for both academic and administrative functions.
  • Partner with distributors. Work with Esri’s distributors to demonstrate the value of our technology and solutions to customers and prospects through business case development, references, and ROI. Support distributors to increase the execution of sales activities to achieve internal business objectives.
  • Deliver results. Collaborate with distributors to manage Esri’s education agreements and deployed licenses. Ensure continued success of all Esri’s software deployments.


  • 5+ years of experience providing technical solutions
  • Deep understanding of the education industry and experience with geospatial technology in education, demonstrated knowledge of academic culture and new technology trends within the industry
  • Experience with Esri products
  • Experience selling enterprise software solutions directly and through a channel
  • Ability to manage the acquisition cycle including prospecting, proposing, closing, and developing an account
  • Capability to quickly learn new technology and translate it into solutions that address customer needs
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Master of English (verbal and written)
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time internationally
  • Bachelor’s or master’s in GIS, business administration, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

Recommended Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience working in the areas of BI, marketing, market planning, or other key business areas
  • Experience working for a global consulting organization involved in business process improvement in the areas of engineering, operations, customer care, and finance
  • Familiarity with Esri offerings in education market(s)
  • Fluent in Spanish and/or French
