Overview


Are you passionate about good UX and 3D graphics? At the Esri R&D Center-Zurich, we are looking for a talented interaction designer to help us develop CityEngine, our popular software and plugin suite for urban design and planning. Join our team and empower architects all around the world to design better cities with CityEngine.

Responsibilities


  • Help gather requirements and synthesize them into user stories
  • Envision together with our product owners novel concepts, workflows, interaction models, and user flows in order to bring beauty and ease-of-use to the CityEngine user experience
  • Design UX/UI solutions at various levels of fidelity, from high-level wireframes or mock-ups to conceptual presentations, visual designs, technical documents, and diagrams
  • Work with the (awesomely nice) dev team to iterate over the designs, test the designs and see what works well, and refine the designs until the highest quality is achieved
  • Document and present designs to a wide range of audiences, including software development, quality assurance, and product management

Requirements


  • 2+ years of professional software UX/UI design experience
  • Understanding of 3D space to conceptualize and communicate design ideas; excellent spatial sense
  • Solid intuition and strong passion for detailed, innovative, and empathic design
  • Strong knowledge of industry standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex ideas to their essence
  • Bachelor’s in interaction design

A portfolio of professional UI/UX design work will be requested upon interview selection.

Recommended Qualifications


  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and animation tools (Maya, Blender, CityEngine, etc.)
  • HTML and CSS knowledge; current on latest responsive design techniques
  • Experience working closely with developers translating design into production code
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies (Scrum, etc.)
  • Will support relocation to the Zurich, Switzerland area
