We have an exciting opportunity available at Esri, the world leader in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), where we are seeking enthusiastic Java Engineers to work on the ArcGIS Runtime for Java API. This is a product that allows developers to bring 2D or 3D mapping and spatial analysis capabilities into their own applications, with their own spatial data.


  • Develop a Java based SDK which allows developers to add mapping and spatial analysis into their own applications
  • Understand user requirements and participate in the design and implementation of new APIs
  • Design and develop our open source toolkit components that complement the SDK
  • Build sample apps using Esri technology and third-party services
  • Go beyond just coding and help us implement unit and functional tests and high quality API doc
  • Increase test coverage across a wide range of supported platforms by improving our automated test processes
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of our development processes
  • Work within a team that is distributed over several locations and time zones
  • Stay up to date with latest JavaFX developments and technology


  • Excellent knowledge of Java
  • Understanding of algorithms and design patterns
  • Ability to work on a team to build quality software in a constantly evolving environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or related field
