Overview


Lead our in-house media relations team to identify, develop, and nurture strong relationships with editors and reporters for global, national, top tier, and industry publications. You will partner with the Head of Influence Marketing to develop and implement Esri’s media relations strategy. We are looking for a strong leader eager for the challenge of taking our media successes to the next level.

Responsibilities


  • Coach, mentor, and connect with direct reports to foster a positive and trusting environment that supports innovation and employee engagement

  • Lead performance management and development for direct reports

  • Promote a diverse and inclusive environment for your team and stakeholders through a culture of empathy, respect, and collaboration

  • Serve as the main point of contact related to all public relations inquiries and activities, both inside and outside of Esri
  • Manage a team of five media relations strategists
  • Oversee the creation and management of communication plans for events, campaigns, and initiatives across the global Esri organization
  • Oversee the writing of press releases and other communication documents
  • Help set up and coordinate press interviews at Esri and during events, including finding appropriate subject matter experts and interview subjects at Esri and in the user community
  • Communicate with press as required
  • Represent Esri PR at events and initiatives as required
  • Maintain relationships with key media, bloggers, and influencers
  • Work closely, across divisions within and outside of corporate marketing, to implement communications strategies and tactics

Requirements


  • 8+ years of experience working in media relations with a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or English
  • Experience managing a team and working with executive level stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success of securing media placements
  • Demonstrated innovative approach to communications strategy
  • Strong existing media relationships
  • Experience in journalist style writing and storytelling
  • Ability to work on and oversee multiple projects at a time and to tight deadlines
  • Strong initiative-taking and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized, energetic, and detail-oriented
  • Availability to travel 10-20% of the time to serve in official capacity as lead of PR for Esri

Recommended Qualifications


  • Both PR agency and in-house (B2B) experience
  • Understanding of GIS, mapping, and location analytics
  • Understanding of Esri’s technology, products, and services

Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

 

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is $85,280.00 - $147,680.00.
