Overview

Leverage your payroll expertise to oversee daily payroll operations, drive process and system improvements, and lead the development of a high-performing team of payroll professionals. In this role, you will ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing, enhance operational efficiencies, and support departmental goals through effective leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day processing of multi-state US payroll, including compliance with federal/state laws and regulations and company policies
  • Work with payroll vendor to ensure timeliness and accuracy of all tax filings and amendments
  • Supervise payroll representatives, including reviewing and assigning workload, assuring quality control for processes, conducting performance reviews for direct reports, and resolving any issues that may arise
  • Support payroll system upgrade testing
  • Support integration with HR and timekeeping systems
  • Recommend process changes to improve efficiency
  • Function as back up to direct report staff and/or Payroll Manager

Requirements

  • 5+ years of payroll experience including federal, state, and local employment tax, reciprocity, quarterly and year-end tax return, and information filing, including 2+ years of supervision or lead experience including assignment and review of work and conducting performance reviews
  • Experience with a major HCM application, including HR, timekeeping, payroll, and reporting modules
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll administration processes, procedures, and best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, negotiating, reasoning, and problem solving
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills
  • Understanding of how payroll processes impact accounting transactions

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, human resources, or related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • CPP certification
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce HCM
  • Experience with system integration and/or upgrades

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$70,304-$116,480 USD
