Overview


Calcite is a design system and developer platform used by product teams and Esri’s external partners to craft engaging and consistent user experiences across and between mapping applications.
We are looking for a Principal Program Manager who will champion design system user adoption of new UI web components.

Responsibilities


  • Manage engagement with 50+ Esri’s product teams to increase adoption of Calcite new web UI components, while ensuring components meet the needs of Calcite users
  • Collaborate with Calcite team to prioritize creation of new web components, analyzing requests from product teams and component usage across products to define requirements to standardize new components that are shared across products
  • Engage with design system leadership team to develop a strategic design system roadmap and measures of success
  • Manage task progress of design, development, and documentation across Calcite team members, ensuring alignment with the schedule
  • Partner with a design system lead to define Calcite Figma l roadmap as well as plan relevant activities, resources, and schedule to deliver
  • Drive continuous improvement of Calcite communication methodologies, documentation creation, request processes, Figma environment, incorporation of accessibility guidelines to make it easier for Calcite user to adopt design system and get the support they need
  • Work closely with a design system lead and a user researcher to drive user research planning and activities, while validating usability of new components in Figma and code
  • Evangelize at all levels to drive user adoption of web UI components, fostering Design and Engineering education of Calcite components to ArcGIS product teams, conveying Calcite innovative practices, and providing guidelines to ensure product teams are set for success
  • Facilitate and manage team meetings for scrum, planning, reviews, and regular check-in

Requirements


  • 8+ years of experience of program management experience
  • Experience leading and supporting high-performing cross-functional teams
  • 3+ years of proven record of leading and growing enterprise-level design systems
  • Deep understanding of fundamentals of product design lifecycle and knowledge of designers’ day to day
  • Experience managing Figma environment: UI kits, documentation, governance, scalability of component libraries
  • Proven record of being both an outstanding teammate and a strong leader who can align partners around a shared vision and influence across an organization
  • Experience building accessibility into design systems and knowledge of accessibility standards
  • Understanding of GitHub and front-end technologies (Stencil, JavaScript, Angular, Ember, React, HTML, CSS, Storybook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
