Overview


Join our software security and privacy team in expanding domestic and international privacy by design practices for the world’s leading GIS software. In this role, you will use your privacy expertise and software/SaaS knowledge to make informed recommendations to guide the development of new privacy features and prevent privacy issues within ArcGIS. Our team is looking for a motivated and driven self-starter who can effectively collaborate to develop and implement realistic recommendations for driving our software products forward in the privacy space.

Responsibilities


  • Support product leads with the education, implementation, and validation of Esri’s Privacy Baseline across ArcGIS and assist with privacy-related due diligence assessments and customer privacy queries
  • Utilize software development knowledge to design and implement solutions within ArcGIS to maintain compliance with global and domestic privacy laws in collaboration with internal teams
  • Maintain familiarity with global and domestic privacy law and associated frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, NIST, ISO, HIPPA, FERPA, COPPA etc.) to align ArcGIS products with privacy standards
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand how to manage and prioritize business needs and risk; prepare reports and insights for review with stakeholders
  • Analyze, design, and guide software enhancements for new data streams with a goal of developing technical solutions and systems to mitigate privacy vulnerabilities and prevent potential privacy risks
  • Support and develop compliance assessments for information governance, data protection, and privacy including development of controls to measure risk

Requirements


  • Foundational understanding of broad global concepts of privacy and data protection law and practice including jurisdictional laws, regulations, and enforcement models; essential privacy concepts and principals; and legal requirements for handling and transferring data
  • 2+ years of experience working within a data privacy program, privacy policy, security compliance, or program management, ideally within engineering for SaaS or PaaS
  • 1+ years of experience with the software development life cycle (SDLC) and familiarity with modern software engineering concepts
  • Strong interest in understanding and solving data challenges with experience in information governance, data protection, and privacy policy
  • Proven ability to succeed in a highly collaborative environment with demonstrated pattern of ambition, self-motivation, and strong attention to detail
  • Communication skills including the ability to listen and translate business needs into solutions to build effective working relationships and ability to negotiate for competing priorities and resources
  • Knowledge of enterprise systems, networks, databases, and other technical domains
  • Bachelor's or higher in information management, information systems, law, computer science, or related field

Recommended Qualifications


  • IAPP certification (CIPP, CIPM, or CIPT) or CISA
  • Foundational knowledge of ArcGIS products and services
  • Experience as a software engineer in an agile work environment
