At the Esri R&D Center-Zurich, we lead the development of Esri’s core 3D web technologies: the ArcGIS API for JavaScript and ArcGIS Scene Viewer. Our team consists of 25 exceptional software engineers and GIS experts who love to work in a highly-social, collaborative, friendly, and fun work environment.
Join us in our mission to push the boundaries for visualizing and interacting with 3D geospatial data by working on designs, builds, tests, documentation and samples for the ArcGIS API for JavaScript, ArcGIS Online, and Portal for ArcGIS.

Responsibilities


  • Analyze, test, release, and support the 3D capabilities of the ArcGIS API for JavaScript to enhance overall product quality. Use your analytical and problem-solving skills to detect integration problems across multiple software components.
  • Manage bugs found through in-house testing as well as those reported by customers.
  • Write JavaScript applications to test new features and maintain shipped functionality. Identify weak spots and potential problems. Isolate and report bugs in a clear and concise manner.
  • Create compelling product samples, blogs, articles, documentation, and tutorials to showcase new features and novel usage patterns of 3D GIS visualization techniques on the web. Design, create, and maintain key supporting 2D/3D GIS datasets and services.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders about software issues, status, and release
  • Establish and define 3D web GIS customer requirements; translate them into potential product improvements and new software designs.

Requirements


  • 2+ years of ArcGIS or other geospatial technology experience in mapping, geodata management, or geoprocessing projects
  • 2+ years of industry experience building web applications or building 3D graphics applications
  • Good intuition for the aesthetics and technical aspects of information visualization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Passion for quality, detail oriented, and know how to break software by finding bugs
  • Bachelor’s in geography, cartography, computer science, or a related field (master's or PhD a plus)

Recommended Qualifications


  • Proficient with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Typescript
  • 3D graphics background (e.g., knowledge of polygonal data structures, WebGL, shaders, etc.)
  • 2+ years of industry experience in software QA, ideally of JavaScript web application
  • Experience in test automation and developing test scripts
  • Expertise in online mapping and/or data visualization
  • Knowledge of the agile software development processes and methodologies
