Overview


Help equip people to make data-driven decisions by finding underlying patterns and communicating complex concepts in approachable terms. Our awesome team builds tools used everywhere from social justice research to conservation efforts. As a key member of the statistical analysis development team, you will help us create the tools that enable organizations to make better decisions using Esri software. We’re looking for a passionate, experienced individual to help us improve and expand our tools as well as provide documentation on our capabilities in spatial statistics, machine learning, and spatial data science.

Responsibilities


  • Be part of the entire software development process, including designing, testing, and documenting new analytical tools and the effective visualizations and outputs of those tools
  • Use your passion for storytelling using data visualization to evangelize spatial data science through various venues such as user documentation, educational materials, conferences, workshops, and online resources
  • Research cutting-edge methods and applications in the field of spatial and spatiotemporal statistics and spatial data science
  • Create and ship quality software by working effectively in an agile, highly interactive, and creative team environment

Requirements


  • Portfolio Submission: Writing or statistical analysis samples of your recent work, preferably targeted towards readers without analytical backgrounds
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively, making spatial data science accessible and even fun
  • Strong background in statistical theory and application
  • Experience with R and/or Python
  • Experience in spatial analysis, machine learning, time-series analysis, or similar analytical disciplines
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in geography, statistics, econometrics, computer science, or related field, depending on position level

Recommended Qualifications


  • Proven ability to perform literature review and learn independently from academic resources. Working experience in geostatistics, spatial statistics, or other statistical fields involving autocorrelated datasets
  • Familiarity with analysis tools within ArcGIS; experience developing models or scripts in ArcGIS
  • Experience with Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch
  • Educational or tutoring experience
