Use your understanding of proposal development to help lead Global Business Development’s delivery of high-quality proposals that clearly convey the proposed Esri solutions and satisfy the requirements of our customers. You will also use your business development and communication skills to consult with sales staff to develop engaging and effective proactive proposals aligned with the latest sales campaigns. As a member of Global Business Development, you’ll join us in promoting Esri’s commercial-off-the-shelf software, data, and developer tools to a world-wide audience.

The proposal manager oversees all proposal activities, including directing proposal staff, managing proposal schedules and deadlines, developing proposal outline and compliance matrix, ensuring security and integrity of all proposal documentation, coordinating internal flow and review of all proposal inputs, and directing production and submission of final proposal.


  • Manage proposal activities from the initial review of the RFP to the submittal of the finalized proposal by utilizing proposal outlines, compliance matrices, and schedules
  • Lead proposal strategy sessions to gain insight into business opportunities and understand key messages, differentiators, and themes
  • Assemble proposal teams including account and project staff, supporting technical staff within Esri, and business partners to develop high-quality, compliant, responsive, and competitive proposals
  • Assist in analyzing the RFP/bid requirements against the proposal outline to ensure both compliance and responsiveness to the customer’s issues and needs
  • Review completed proposal sections to ensure requirements are adequately addressed and that customer page limits are not exceeded
  • Direct writing/editing/rewriting efforts as needed; work with contracts specialists to develop legal exceptions and comments for proposals; write content for sales proposals, RFP responses, and sales content library
  • Research and provide answers to questions about product capabilities
  • Manage multiple writing projects, often with minimal oversight


  • 5+ years of experience in proposal management, writing, and/or coordination
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and writing/editing skills
  • Highly proficient in MS Office applications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s in business, GIS, communications, or related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Exposure to GIS technology as it relates to IT, application development, or software integration
  • Demonstrated success with business relations in a service oriented business environment
  • APMP certification
  • Proficient with Salesforce, SharePoint, proposal automation, or other online collaboration tools
  • Sales experience
