Python Developer

Overview

Join our team of exceptional software developers to deliver cutting-edge Python programs for processing big data in a distributed environment and to automate data analysis. In this role, you will develop and integrate new raster function APIs and processing capabilities with the ArcGIS platform. You will create tools for performing geospatial analysis using the ArcGIS Python API.

At the Esri R&D Center-Sharjah, we develop Python programs to perform a variety of tasks including ingesting metadata from imagery, developing raster function API, raster analytics API, and test automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, develop, release, and support ArcGIS API for Python to enhance overall product quality and applicability for supporting image processing workflows
• Participate in the design and development of the ArcGIS suite of products and APIs
• Develop geoprocessing tools to perform image analysis
• Develop Python-based raster types
• Perform bug fixes, documentation, and maintenance tasks

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with Python and knowledge of C/C++
• Understanding of REST APIs and web programming using Python
• A strong drive and interest to learn new technologies quickly and work in a fast-paced software development environment
• Bachelor's or master's in computer science or related field

Recommended Qualifications

• Multithreaded programming patterns in Python is a strong added advantage
• Familiarity with developing add-ins, geoprocessing tools, or extensions using ArcGIS developer APIs, including working with ArcGIS API for Python and ArcPy
• Experience with one or more of Cython, Jupyter Notebook widgets
• Experience with NumPy, 2D and 3D visualization libraries
• Experience with deploying software on AWS, Azure, or other cloud services and familiarity with cloud services and technologies such as AWS Lambda, Sagemaker, Elastic GPUs, S3, etc.
• Familiarity with pytest, unittest, or nose
