Help advance the capabilities of field applications at Esri. We are growing our passionate field applications team based in Redlands, California and Portland, Maine. This is an exciting opportunity to use your talent, expertise, and passion for problem solving to ensure we deliver software that fulfills the needs of field operations with cutting-edge mobile and web-based software.

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for software quality and should be able to define and drive QA best practices as well as work with partner teams to push quality upstream. You will be working closely with developers and other product engineers and will be responsible for creating and executing test plans used to ensure high levels of quality of a full-stack application, web, and mobile deployments.

Responsibilities


  • Ensure a rich geospatial user experience by testing individual functionality, user interfaces, workflows, and application programming interfaces
  • Design and develop test plans and test cases, write test code, and execute and analyze tests to support and enhance overall product quality
  • Execute both manual and automated test cases, analyze test results to determine pass/fail status, and report results in a consistent manner
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly, and track bugs
  • Research and recommend new test tools to enhance test coverage and efficiency
  • Develop or contribute to the overall QA process by suggesting improvements, best practices, and new approaches to testing workflows

Requirements


  • 1+ years of experience with Ruby or Python (or similar programming/scripting language)
  • 1+ years of experience working with Appium/Selenium
  • Experience or knowledge of testing techniques such as UI testing, automated testing, test driven development strategies
  • Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) models
  • Bachelor’s or master’s in computer science, engineering, GIS, data science, environmental science, or related field, depending on position level

Recommended Qualifications


  • 1+ years of experience with JavaScript
  • Experience working with Android Studio and Xcode
  • Familiarity with continuous integration (i.e., Jenkins), virtualization (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes), source control management (i.e., GitHub)
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Self-motivated, diligent, and able to complete tasks in a fast-paced environment in a timely manner with minimal guidance
