Overview


You will own the Release lifecycle for a project or program delivery with Esri’s wide ranging customer base. This can include scheduling, requirements gathering, management of testing, and coordinating deployments for the entire engagement. The releases can be inclusive of base deployment, application configurations, application updates, operating system patches, data configuration and data updates. Where necessary and applicable you’ll provide tools and services to help project teams manage and deploy releases into production.

The Release Manager works collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and is supportive of developers and testers as they set up their dev/test environments. The Release Manager coordinates practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments.

The Release Manager will work collaboratively with project and program managers to assist in managing projects and program interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence and high-quality releases.

Responsibilities


  • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, and Go/No-Go reviews
  • Develop Test Plans, Release Plans, Deployment Plans and Checklists and Run Books
  • Manual execution of test scripts and deployment plans
  • Coordinate release content and effort based on backlogs and delivery schedules
  • Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations
  • Coordinate and execute Test and Release Milestones such as Internal Acceptance, User Acceptance and provide Test and Release Reporting
  • Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required
  • Negotiate, plan, and manage all test and release activities
  • Continually work towards making improvements in the release and deployment process
  • Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists.
  • Support test and release automation
  • Develops scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms
  • Researches new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management needs

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 1-2 years of previous release and/or project management experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management principles and methodologies. Waterfall and Agile/Scrum preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion

Recommended Qualifications


  • Experience with relational databases such as SQL
  • 1-2 years’ experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development
  • Familiarity with installation and configuration of key Esri Enterprise products
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Defect Management Systems such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or GitHub
  • Experience with scripting, Python or PowerShell
