Overview


Serve as the leader of the revenue accounting team with a focus on the development of the team’s skillsets and knowledge across our growing revenue accounting department. You will be responsible for ensuring that order to cash transactions, specifically revenue recognition, are completely and accurately reflected in our financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and to ensure the accuracy of revenue across product lines and through the management of revenue accounting policies and procedures around ASC 606. Your knowledge and interest in systems will aid directing the integrity and future optimization of the revenue and reporting (RAR) module in SAP. You will support our financial audits and provide information required for revenue related financial disclosures.

Responsibilities


  • Lead and enhance monthly reporting of revenue, deferred revenue, and KPIs that are useful for management review of actual results against expectations
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions for process and system improvements which focus on maintaining key controls while still ensuring that department responsibilities are completed with detail, accuracy, and timelines
  • Lead and mentor revenue accounting team members and provide staffing recommendations as necessary
  • Oversee month end close processes, including the preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles (ASC 606)
  • Develop strong and collaborative working relationships with the leaders within professional and education services, contracts, product management and other departments; maintain ongoing and constant communication with key leaders to provide revenue recognition compliant solutions for new initiatives
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as required or assigned

Requirements


  • 10+ years of prior experience in public accounting or corporate accounting experience with similar responsibilities
  • Strong ERP system knowledge, specifically with a revenue module
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, negotiating, reasoning, and problem solving
  • Ability to develop strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs
  • CPA with bachelor’s in accounting (advanced degree in relevant field preferred)

Recommended Qualifications


  • Experience in software or technology industry
  • Experience with SAP, specifically RAR
  • Experience with SalesForce or other CRM
  • Experience with Apttus or other CLM
