Overview


Join our team to create, inspire, and influence user-centered design at Esri and beyond. Your mission will be to design and document Esri.com’s extensive design system while collaborating closely with other designers and developers to bring greater consistency, functionality, and flexibility to all of Esri.com.

Our team has a strong focus on individual responsibility and rapid development. Our goal is to advance Esri’s design first mindset to extend the reach and utilization of our location-based technology. A strong understanding of user-centered design processes, systemic thinking, and interaction design principles is crucial for your success.

Responsibilities


  • Gather requirements and synthesize them into tasks that you can take action on
  • Collaborate with other designers and developers to elevate and iterate on our current design solutions
  • Stay up to date with Esri’s core design system team to ensure our work is consistent with theirs
  • Craft responsive prototypes and high-fidelity user interface designs using Sketch, Abstract, InVision, Photoshop, and other conventional design tools
  • Work hand-in-hand with the front-end development team to ensure your vision is authored to the highest of standards
  • Own, maintain, and champion the documentation and evangelization of the design system to UX, UI, front-end development, and creative leadership teams
  • Bring differing opinions and personalities together to move projects forward
  • Work with our UX strategy, research, and analytics teams to validate development and design work leveraging basic usability testing approaches and other user-facing research
  • Stay up to date on the latest web component best practices, patterns, and technologies

Requirements


  • Extreme attention to detail driven by a strong desire for personal growth and a commitment to the craft
  • 3-5 years of experience designing and developing for enterprise companies, or similar experience
  • Strong interaction design skills and compelling aesthetic design sense
  • Working knowledge of accessibility with a desire to learn more
  • Proven track record of evangelizing the need and value of design
  • Proclivity toward self-ownership and driving results beyond your expected duties for the good of the deliverables and team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Naturally curious and passionate about learning new things
  • Experience in scrum and agile development environments
  • Ability to leverage multidisciplinary practices and shift focus easily in a place that values nimble responses to new user and business expectations
  • Ability to leave your ego at the door, making way for data-driven empathy and a collaborative work ethic
  • Bachelor’s in human factors, graphic design, web design or related fields

Recommended Qualifications


  • Experience building large scale design systems
  • Experience designing for and working with Adobe Experience Manager
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
