We welcome you to join a small, dedicated team of engineers located in the heart of our IT organization! Our mission is to deliver end-to-end deployment functionality and provide automation services to teams across Esri. You will contribute directly to the pipelines, scripts, and infrastructure that we rely on to accomplish this. Together, we will enhance the features that we deliver to development teams, streamline legacy operational practices, and collectively drive towards a stronger engineering posture from which we can continue to iterate and improve our best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teams across Esri to maintain production applications, cloud infrastructure, and implement DevOps pipelines
  • Design, implement, automate, and maintain resources in public clouds including AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Create deployment solutions using Terraform and Jenkins
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to improve deployment processes
  • Configure and deploy containerized micro-service components
  • Troubleshoot critical systems and provide root cause analysis
  • Operate and improve functionality on logging, monitoring, and alerting tools

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience: we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and will contribute to the team quickly
  • Strong understanding and ability to write Terraform, Dockerfiles, Jenkins pipelines, Helm charts, and Kubernetes configs
  • 3+ years of experience in a Cloud Infrastructure or DevOps role: our day-to-day is working with development teams to ship code to our public cloud infrastructure
  • Experience configuring Linux and Windows systems: our workloads run on a variety of Linux distributions and Windows versions
  • Strong coding abilities: we write a lot of automation with Python, Powershell, and Bash (NodeJS knowledge is a plus)
  • Experience with build and configuration management tools: we use a variety of tools in this space, so exposure to one or more of them is needed
  • Working knowledge of Git: everything is code, and our VCS of choice is GitHub Enterprise
  • Ability to automate common tasks: much of the automation our team builds revolves around interacting with various APIs

Recommended Qualifications

  • Expertise with containers and container orchestration: one of our big shifts is towards serverless and containers
  • Experience with ServiceNow: our organization is rallying around ServiceNow as a platform
  • Proficiency with monitoring tools and the ability to operate tools such as Prometheus and Grafana to monitor workloads across the landscape
  • Experience with CI/CD tools: workloads are built and shipped via Jenkins pipelines
