Overview


Apply your experience with climate and environmental analysis to help our Living Atlas of the World team build new and dynamic content. The Living Atlas is the largest geospatial data collection in the world, is widely used across the ArcGIS platform, and is fast becoming the backbone of web GIS. You will help identify key datasets and derived analysis products to help develop a more sustainable planet. You’ll also be part of teaching users how to integrate this content in new ways supporting resilience planning practices with local to national governments, community organizations, and industries.

In this role, you will work with content development and product engineer leads who are designing and developing production solutions, applications, and blogs and creating geospatial learning opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a project team leading the development of complex, state-of-the-art content systems that support climate action around the world.

Responsibilities


  • Test and deploy web layers, maps, and application products to the Living Atlas of the World
  • Develop processes to analyze and automate processing of complex climate datasets, including remotely sensed, in-situ, or modeled sources
  • Work in a team environment to provide subject matter expertise to staff/customers through participation in focused projects and releases
  • Initiate novel research and analysis projects with Esri staff, customers, and partners
  • Contribute to major climate initiatives led by federal, state, and NGO customers

Requirements


  • 3+ years of experience in climate data analysis or resilience and adaptation practices
  • Experienced with using multidimensional data, such as climate projections, in GIS workflows
  • A strong drive and interest to learn and launch new content quickly and work in a fast-paced development environment
  • Experience using Jupyter Notebooks and Python
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in GIS, environmental or climate sciences, or related fields

Recommended Qualifications


  • Experience with climate resilience planning and adaptation practices
  • Direct experience using climate model data, such as CMIP, LOCA, CORDEX, and more
  • Demonstrated understanding of spatial analysis and downscaling principles
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro and Online
  • Experience building story maps to help create place-based narratives

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$85,280-$128,960 USD
