Overview


Come join Esri and help pioneer the field of mapping and spatial analysis through design. We are looking for a talented Senior Product Designer specializing in user interface design for Windows desktop applications. In this role, you will enhance the UI framework of ArcGIS Pro, ensuring a consistent and intuitive user experience. You will stay current with the latest Windows desktop design patterns, contribute to our evolving design system, and collaborate with various teams to maintain UI/UX consistency and accessibility.

Responsibilities


  • Lead the design and enhancement of the UI framework for ArcGIS Pro, ensuring it aligns with modern Windows desktop design patterns
  • Partner and contribute to our desktop design system that promotes consistency, scalability, and accessibility across the application
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, engineers, and other designers to ensure a seamless and cohesive user experience
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and validate design decisions
  • Create detailed design specifications, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in Windows desktop application design and accessibility
  • Advocate for the user throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring their needs and preferences are at the forefront
  • Ensure that all UI components and interactions meet accessibility standards and guidelines
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to the growth and development of the design team

Requirements


  • 5+ years of experience in product design, with a focus on Windows desktop applications
  • An online portfolio that demonstrates your design abilities, how you think, and a strong understanding of client objectives
  • Experience using Figma, Figma UI Kits, adhering to established pattern libraries and required frameworks
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and rationale to stakeholders
  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing, and translating findings into actionable design improvements
  • In-depth knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines (such as WCAG, ADA) and experience implementing accessible design solutions
  • Bachelor’s in Product Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.

Recommended Qualifications


  • Knowledge of GIS, spatial analysis, and data visualization
  • Enterprise application design experience
  • Experience designing mapping applications
  • Familiarity with the ArcGIS platform
  • Experience with accessibility and internationalization
  • Understanding of Microsoft's Win32 and UWP Design Guidelines
  • Master’s in Product Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$97,344-$166,608 USD
