Overview


Join a team of product managers helping to guide our customers who work with the world’s leading mapping and cartography software. From promoting the current product and vision to gathering requirements for the future, you’ll have the challenge of supporting a product used by the world’s leading cartographic organizations, national mapping agencies, and thousands of people every day to create and manage data, design maps, create cartographic products, and build stunning visualizations in 2D, 3D, and 4D. You’ll work with an incredible development team building amazing products, providing customer feedback, and helping to guide product direction. You’ll also work closely with product marketing to help define the product story and communicate the advantages of ArcGIS and Esri’s comprehensive product offerings. ArcGIS’s mapping capabilities play a strategic and central role in Esri’s overall vision for the future of cartography, and you could too!

Responsibilities


  • Coordinate with Software Development and Software Products groups to ensure that features and functionality remain relevant to user requirements
  • Work closely with a worldwide customer base who are actively building the highest level of maps, charts, and cartographic products
  • Gather market intelligence and guide development for evolving Esri’s core mapping, charting, and cartographic capabilities
  • Work closely with Product Marketing to help define go-to-market strategies and product stories
  • Help minimize implementation issues by providing internal staff, Esri’s partner community, and customers with information about current and upcoming releases
  • Maintain information (for example, technical papers, and presentations) on best practices, capabilities, current release functionality, and more
  • Assist with the generation of product marketing materials
  • Assist in competitive and gap analysis
  • Develop demonstrations of existing and new capabilities in a context for Esri sales staff, distributors, and customers spread across the globe
  • Support trade shows, customer engagements, and the various Esri user conferences

Requirements


  • 5+ years of experience in a mapping, cartography, or product role with a strong design focus such as engineering, development, and more
  • Comprehensive understanding of current mapping, cartographic production, generalization techniques, and capabilities
  • 1+ years of experience in giving presentations to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise
  • Ability to understand and represent customer needs and requirements
  • Ability to coordinate people and technical resources from multiple areas of the company
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at the technical and senior executive level
  • Excellent problem-solving and creative thinking skills
  • Requirement for travel 10-20% of the time for strategic meetings, events, and/or tradeshows
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS, or related field

Recommended Qualifications


  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro in a product support, product planning, product engineering, or consulting environment
  • Familiarity with Python and map automation
  • Knowledge of traditional mapping and cartographic workflows and customer needs
  • Knowledge of web mapping techniques and capabilities using ArcGIS Online
  • Familiarity with the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript
  • Master's degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS, or related field

Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$104,000-$166,400 USD
