Sr. System Engineer - Defense/Intel

Overview

As a Sr. Systems Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to solve complex problems and support complex customer systems. You will be expected to perform and lead high quality systems deployment, systems administration, operations, best practices application, optimization, and internal/external customer interactions as well as perform technical analysis for complex problems.

In this role, you will work closely with clients within the Defense/Intelligence Community (IC) to establish solutions to support the agency's mission and make it successful, broaden the effect of GIS technology to its business, and help shape the evolution of the platform by identifying and implementing new patterns.

Responsibilities

Enable Users To Be Successful

• Ensure mission systems work at their peak efficiency
• Lead engineering teams utilizing best practices
• Provide platform configuarion and system engineering guidance to customers and teams
• Understand how Esri's technology integrates/interfaces with customers' solutions vision

Grow Business

• Communicate ArcGIS technologies to technical and non-technical customers
• Develop and propose solutions that demonstrate how GIS brings business value to address critical business challenges faced by customers
• Present complex technical demonstrations to various levels of staff in a diverse range of customer organizations

Push Technology/Platform

• Develop, implement, and lead solutions for projects in physical, virtual, and cloud environments
• Discuss, plan, and lead activities related to upgrades, migrations, and other maintenance
• Research and interface with the latest web development technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, GitHub, Python, iOS, Android, Grunt, Node.JS)
• Push the boundaries of current mapping technology for some of the largest organizations in the world

Optimize Performance and Organization

• Collaborate internally to help customer organizations align their technical objectives and business goals with Esri's technology platform
• Communicate best practices for building and maintaining enterprise systems
• Direct engineering teams in defining new customer solutions

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience supporting the design, implementation and administration of enterprise ArcGIS or comparable systems (desktop, server and online)
• Experience with systems hosted in virtualized, cloud, and/or container environments
• Programming and/or scripting experience with Python, JavaScript, or HTML5
• Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas, whether to other technical peers or non-technical project managers or customers
• Demonstrable ability to evaluate and translate a customer’s business goals, objectives, and strategies into technical plans and solutions
• Be self-motivated, a proactive problem solver, team-oriented, and creative
• Entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to learn--you must thrive in a dynamic cross-functional team environment
• Applicants selected will be subjected to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. This could include a Top Secret Clearance (TS), a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information Clearance (TS/SCI), a TS/SCI with Counterintelligence Scope (CI) and/or a Full Scope/Lifestyle
• Bachelor’s in Geography, Computer Science, GIS, Mathematics or a STEM related field

Recommended Qualifications

• Direct work-related experience in and familiarity with the organizations and operations of the US Intelligence Community (IC) and/or Department of Defense (DoD)
• Experience with Esri software including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Runtime and their associated APIs or interfaces
• Cloud-based system operations (SysOps)
• Security + 
• Master’s in Geography, Computer Science, GIS, Mathematics or a STEM related field
