Responsibilities


  • Storage administration: create/modify/delete aggregates, volumes, shares, and permissions
  • Device maintenance: upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting
  • Lifecycle management: deployment to retirement
  • Data migrations: between storage devices, client to storage, and on-prem to public cloud
  • Assist with setup and troubleshooting of client, server, and storage backups
  • Support Compute admins for provisioning and troubleshooting of storage used for VM datastores
  • Work the queues: incidents, requests, and project driven tasks
  • Participate in team and cross-team collaboration for knowledge sharing
  • Participate in afterhours on-call rotation
  • Write documentation as applicable for storage administration, hardening, and troubleshooting
  • Be open to new concepts, learning, and project participation that may be outside the sphere of storage administration

Requirements


  • Minimum 2+ years of storage administration experience
  • Experience with storage fundamentals - NAS: NFS, CIF; SAN: FC, iSCSI; Object storage
  • Hands-on experience with common storage features such as snapshots, volume cloning, remote file caching, and data reclamation techniques (compression, dedupe, and more)
  • Experience with NetApp Storage (AFF, FAS, StorageGRID) and related features SnapVault, FlexCache, FlexClone, SVM, Dedupe, and more
  • Experience with IBM Elastic Storage Systems (ESS), protocol nodes, and related features
  • Experience with enterprise data protection/backup concepts
  • Experience with NAS based VMware (ESXi/vSphere) storage
  • Experience with other storage platforms such as Nexenta, Synology, Min.IO
  • Understanding of storage related file systems ZFS, EXT3/4, NTFS, ReFS, NetApp ONTAP
  • Write scrips in common languages (Python, PowerShell, and more)
  • Familiarity with networking concepts - TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Port Channel, MAC Addresses, 1/10/25/40/100Gb interconnects
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience

Recommended Qualifications


  • Hands-on experience with NetApp capabilities including FlexClone, FlexCache, FlexGroup, SnapVault, SnapMirror, SVM, dedupe, compression, compaction, and Clustered ONTAP (cDOT)
  • Experience in petabyte scale storage management in a software development focused environment
  • Experience with storage in Kubernetes clusters (Native Kubernetes on Ubuntu, OpenShift, Tanzu)
  • Linux OS experience highly recommended
  • Windows and Mac experience

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$66,560-$117,520 USD
